Hello guys
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
I think I have a problem with the ambient light on the passenger side. to me it seems to be low and the setting is on the highest level. I have attached photos to have an idea what Im talking about. and I was wondering if its like that from factory or not. its bugging me because its not like the ambient lights on the door which is one long LED all the way.
Under warranty, have dealer check it. No warranty, remove trim to inspect.
I dont have warranty. so I have to do it my self. thanks alot for the PDF files. but I dont know what should I look for. how many LEDs are supposed to be there?
There is not much that can go wrong with the light diffusor itself, my guess is that the strip is lodged out of place or if the LED-unit isnt seated properly on the strip.

Happened to me in my new E Class. The strip cannot go bad because the strip doesn't have any wires or anything. It's just plastic. It can either be the Fiber cable or the connector at the end of the strip. If it's not emulating enough light, it's more than likely one of those two. But from what I see in the pictures, the end of the trim is pretty bright. I would remove the trim and see how bright the light is. You can remove the trim and see for your self. If you want to remove the fiber connector at the end, just yank it off. it might be pretty hard to do so since it's clipped on there tight. I replaced mine and it's even brighter than it was before. It could be also the plastic strip that is run under the trim. It might be lodged in too much, but that shouldn't happen because there are channels where the strip sits on.

Cheers.
Here is a quick look at how it works when it's torn apart:
That bright light is obviously where the light source comes from. The black plastic housing piece im holding with my index finger and thumb is what lets the light attach to the clear plastic piece. You can pull that right off of the clear plastic strip.
Here is the light when directly attached to the plastic clear trim piece. It should be strong enough to emulate all the light to scatter through the entire strip.
This was the center console, but it's the same concept on the dash trim pieces. Hopes this helps a little bit!
