E450 Wagon Headroom w or w/o sunroof
Ordering an E450 for my wife. I've always disliked Sunroofs: never use them, they add weight, complexity. Worst of all, they generally reduce headroom. I'm 6'0 so not worried about clearance, but more space just feels better.
However, the E450 we test drove yesterday to my surprise had front and rear sunroofs where the headliner (more accurately, the internal fabric screen concealing the glass) was deeply recessed, ie, appeared to be MORE headroom and spaciousness not less.
Does anyone have a non-sunroof E450 and could share photos?

My understanding of the order guide is the base car has a "normal" sunroof in the US and the Panoramic is the upgrade here. I've not seen a US one without some sort of sunroof and I did every configuration I could come up with on MBUSA.

The things you wish you could measure...
I had a 2018 e400 wagon with the panorama roof you’ve described. I replaced it with a 2019 e450 wagon with the standard sunroof. I intentionally did this hoping it would be quieter, lower the center of gravity, and to keep the sun off. The fabric screens with the panorama roof still let too much sun in when closed. I expected maybe slightly more headroom based on things I had read or seen on videos. I’m short enough not to be able to tell on the headroom part (5’ 9”).
I don’t ever use a sunroof, so I wish I could have ordered the car without it. If I really need the elements, I’ll borrow the wife’s SLK.

Not getting a sunroof is an option in other countries, but basically in the US, you either have the sunroof or the optional panorama sunroof. If you don't want a sunroof, you'd have a to get a cheaper car like a C class...

Does the pano sunroof make the car louder?
Regarding the height I sat in cars with and without the pano roof and honestly it feels more spacious with the sun roof as the cabin is brighter. I live in a cold climate so heat is not a problem. If you are really tall it probably is better without, I am average height so it spacious either way.
If you live in the US the small sunroof is standard so I would think it is better getting the pano as it will feel more spacious and it takes up space either way.

I totally agree that the pano roof feels more spacious. I don’t know for sure if it’s louder. When I got my second wagon I ordered the acoustic comfort package too. It is definitely a quieter wagon, but how much was it the roof, I don’t know.

Don't know about the wagon but the 6'0" American wife fits just fine in the coupe with a pano roof as do I at 6'2" so I would not expect an issue with the wagon. At least I hope not as one is next on my list.

US with sunroof: front 37.5, rear 38. UK standard spec wagon that I understand to be without sunroof: front: 1061 millimeters = approximately 41.75 inches; rear 1005 / 39.50.

Thanks @konigstiger that is great info. Another interesting detail from your post: is the AMG version of the wagon really ~450lbs heavier than the E450? Wonder where all that weight comes from...
