Replacement Wiper Blades?

So what do you folks use? Dealer quoted $117 installed. It looks like $50 on Amazon. What is the factory part number. Thanks!

Aren't you the same person that argued that the A service was only an oil change? Or am I confusing you with someone else. (And I do NOT mean this as an insult, just wondering.)

Unfortunately on my prepaid maintenance they don't touch the wiper blades as mine is a Autonation prepaid 3 year contract. I thought I was buying a MB one but did not read it carefully enough.

Service Adviser told me today wiper blades are NOT included in A or B service. Called another local MB dealer, same response.

Two points:
  • My dealer said the blades were included under the warranty and when I complained at six months they were replaced free of charge.
  • Attached is the schedule of work to be done under the "A" and "B" service. Towards the end you will see at 10,000 mile intervals it calls for replacement of wiper blades.

I notice it's listed under Recommended work, rather than Required work (like the oil & filter change, etc.)

My dealer quoted me $129. They have small rain sensors on the ends and are pretty good quality. I got 11 months out of mine.

They are not included in A or B services.

They wanted to charge me for wiper blades with A service. I passed. They still work fine.

I have prepaid maintenance on my car. Wiper blades changed at 10k “A” service, both front and rear. No charge. I’ve not had a “B” service done yet.

Really? Is that what the dealer told you? You need to get a copy of EPC. Get the WIS/EPC on eBay. About $6.60. EPC tells you what parts you need for the car based on VIN. WIS is the repair manual used by the dealer.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-Mercedes-SMART-WIS-ASRA-EPC-Dealer-Service-Repair-Workshop-Download/123730293730

All the other catalogs say that they're just regular wipers.

Rockauto claims that Bosch is oem and they have a set for about $30.

Then why did I peel off a little plastic protector film over this circle thing? Rain Sensor maybe? And the blade attachment to the arm, visible grey metal makes contact with the blade portion and arm. So I assumed it was an electrical contact to the sensor???

Am I wrong? IDK

Man, I purchased and downloaded, and installed the above, following the instructions. If there's a more convoluted way of making data available, I've yet to see it. And of course, despite this being the latest available, my 2020 E450 is not covered, it doesn't know the VIN, and I'm finding it VERY difficult to find anything without a VIN it will recognize. I think I wasted my money. Not that it was much, but....

I realize that, but 1) It's the very latest version of this available, supposedly, 2) 2020s have been out for a while now and 3) I thought it would be easier to use without a specific VIN number.

Well for the real thing, there's MB's EPCnet. Used to be free, but now they charge $75 for one year access.

https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/subscribe.jsp

And for the WIS, there's MB's Startek info which costs $60 for 24 hours of access and you can download as many documents as you can in that time period.

https://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/subscribe.jsp

Otherwise I guess you'd have to search eBay for more recent EPC/WIS knock offs. They'll probably end up updating it at some point, but really no one seems to be selling an EPC newer than 11/2018.

WIS, EPC, it's all Greek to me. Long ago, the space in my brain for 3 letter abbreviations and acronyms was filled. Now I can't learn or remember any new ones, without more important ones being lost forever. Like IOU and DUI. ;-)

This is a wear indicator

This is a wear indicator, it will turn yellow when it’s due for replacement.

Based on what, I wonder? If it doesn't clean the windshield? If it hops across the windshield? If it's 12 months old but still working great?

Oh yeah, you're probably the kid in the far side who asks to be excused because his brain is full.

http://ircamera.as.arizona.edu/NatSc...tbrainfull.htm

WIS is Mercede's repair manual, it's what the dealers use. Their EPC is their electronics parts catalog and all you do is put in your vin and you can look up the part numbers for your car. Also gives you a spec sheet for your car when you put in the vin so it's handy to see what a car has or not.

I don’t know what it’s based or what causes it to wear out and turn to yellow. There’s been plenty of times that they turn “yellow” but the wipers work just fine, and clean just fine. Then there’s been times that I have had to replace them prematurely. It’s more of a visual for the dealer to recommend them because it’s been a while and sell you the most expensive set of blades 😂🤣.

Just picked my Estate Wagon up today, and after a while, the wipers started hopping a bit. Didn't check the wear indicator, but that's obviously not the problem. And it should be really clean, so, not sure what to stop it with. Any ideas?
