2019 E450 4Matic ordered Dec 2018
Active Assist Features Temporary Failure

Was traveling today on a 180 mile interstate road trip. Was going about 70 mph and suddenly the system placed a series of notifications on the screen, Active blind spot asst inop, active lane keeping asst inop, active brake assist functions limited and ‘cruise control’ whatever that is called inop.

I exited the interstate highway to gather my wits. I immediately scheduled a service appointment for two days from now via dealer app and then looked in the electronic owners manual for additional information. I turned off the engine hoping that might reset things. No luck. Tried again, no luck. So I proceeded with the expectation of driving manually the remainder of my journey (how gauche, LOL).

A few miles further I tried activating ‘cruise control’ for lack of correct term several times and everything began working. Everything worked normally for the remainder of the trip (about 2 hours).

Now I’m wondering if it was a one-off anomaly. Wondering if I should cancel service appointment? I’m planning to take a 6.5 hour drive in three days, which will the car’s longest road trip. ‘Jessica’ is a loaded E450 which I ordered Dec 2018 and delivered in April of this year. 6,300 miles so far. Appreciate your input on whether I should keep appointment or wait and see if it happens again. Have any of you experienced this? Appreciate your input.

.
Dirty sensors, especially the Distronic sensor in the grill star, can cause these problems.

I'd keep the service appointment - that failure may store something in history that can still be read and diagnosed, even though the symptom has disappeared.

My E450 has all available safety options.

Was driving in Vermont this past week. Snowing hard. Same thing happened to me. =

Next day everything was fine.

This proves "fully autonomous" driving is still a ways away.
