Dark display screen
2017 E Class After start up, my display screen is black. BUT, put in reverse, works fine. WEIRD PART. I pressed my Mercedes "help" button and the display screen works then. Shut off, back to dark... HELP? Thanks

Funny you posted this. I had the exact same experience yesterday, which was the first time I had driven the car in two weeks. At first I thought the screen had died and I was upset at the thought of having to take it in for service, especially during the current situation. But the screen came on momentarily when I was parking, and it dawned on me to look for the power switch next to the gearshift. That fixed it.
Odd coincidence, though – could it be that the screen gets turned off automatically if the car sits too long?

As I said in my earlier post, I had a similar experience to the OP's the same day as he did. I think I may know the reason — low charge on the battery due to very infrequent use of the car in recent weeks (or is it months now? I've lost count.). After another short trip a couple of days ago I got a warning about the charge being low, and that apparently affected a lot of things in the car, including shutting off the screen, music, etc. My guess is the car's software is designed to lower or eliminate unnecessary electrical use when it senses a low charge. I let the car idle for a couple of hours to restore the charge (I don't have a charger and didn't want to call AAA), and that fixed the problem for now. Hopefully I get it on the road for a long drive. Someday.

Star and Tel button. I think that I deactivated this camera when I activated the car wash mode… the confusion is that car wash mode is now off but it didn’t come on by itself
