Does anyone know what this alert means?

I recently bought a 2017 E250 Wagon here in Sweden
A day or two after bringing it home this alert pops up shortly after starting driving!
I get in, put my seatbelt on, seatbelt tightens automaticly and i drive off, and this shows up?
I am the only one in the car, but the pic seems to show the rear seat.
I read the manual when i got it and searched the "online" manual in the app but cant find anything on this!
Any help appriciated
Erik in Sweden

Were there any items placed on the rear seat....baggage, clothing etc that may have triggered a sensor into thinking there was a passenger present?

I was going to say maybe buckle all three belts in the back and see if the error persists. Seems like a sensor fault at first guess.

It's to tell you how many seats in the back are buckled: you can remind them if someone doesn't have their seatbelt on. Individual seat will turn from orange to blue (or is it the other way round) if the seat belt on that seat is engaged.

It shows up on my dash every time I set off regardless of whether there is any passenger or not. I imagine there is no pressure sensors embedded in the rear seats so this is a more cost effective and more convenient way to check seat belts in the back.

Displaying this message could be dependent on your local laws and regulations seeing that not everyone here is familiar with it. (Aussie here)

No but they should not need to be as no one is sitting in the backseat.

Sounds reasonable thats why it shows up if there are passengers, BUT this is an Mercedes and im sure there are sensors in the back seat, this and my S211 i had a few years ago has sensors for everything, and depending on were people are seated airbags usually are turned off or on.
And much cheaper cars has pressure sensors in the rear sets, so i would be suprised and disapointed if this doesent.
Im guessing maybe a sensor is broken i will try buckeling the rear seats and see if the picture is changing.
Thanks for answering

Feeling a bit stupid now.....

just realised today that mine shows the same graphic on start up and I close it by pressing the touchpad thingie in the right side of the steering wheel! !!
I never took note of it before and presumed it was a reference to the seat belts generally.
Mine does in fact highlight the back seats also.

It's purely a rear seat belt reminder. It will display every time you drive and is functioning exactly as it should.

Yeah i think i came to that conclusion to! I did buckle one belt in the rear and that seat got "greyed" in the display.
It was just a bit annoying and stayed on for so long, and is useless information for me if no one is sitting in the backseat.
Thanks everyone for your input

Smile Seat belt warning on start

Hi there, this is normal for all MB that have new display, and it is just a reminder for the driver, now the individual seat will turn grey if the belt for that seat is locked in. no need to be alarmed. I have the same on my 2020 W205
