Trunk Open Indicator
Trunk Open Indicator
Hey everyone:
Been lurking around for a month or so after getting a CPO 2017 E300 Sport. I love the car and this forum has been extremely helpful in gauging what sort of issues arise in these cars.
One thing that has been bothering me, though, is there is no trunk open indicator anywhere (sure I could look back, but that's beside the point). When I bought the car, the dealer said it was operating as normal; that it only comes on when the car is in motion and the trunk is open (I still have not tried to drive with the trunk open though). Also, the manual has conflicting information (one page shows a dash light, but it's not on another page that shows all of the dash lights). I find it odd that the screen in the dash will show doors open, but not the trunk. Even my old 2001 Civic had a trunk open indicator.
Can anyone with a 2017 confirm that this is actually the case? That there is no indicator?
(Just as an aside, I was given a 2020 as a rental and it indeed show up on the screen as expected when the car was not being driven. When I brought this to the dealerships attention, they said it was a change on the 2020s).
Thank you all.

I don't even think you need put it in park. I regularly lower the trunklid while reversing down my driveway.
