Unlike "days of yore" today's modern gasolines have cleaning additives blended in, from regular to premium, that effectively keep the fuel injectors and system clean.

Yeah, I thought so. I went to the dealership today and they told me I am due for a transmission fluid change along with some fuel system cleaner. I'm only at 31k miles.

Yeah, all that is worthless, it's basically additional dealer profit. If you want to use an additive, there's Techron, but if you use top tier gas, it already has a decent amount in it. Exxon, Mobil, Shell, BP, Costco etc are all top tier gas vendors.

I'll probably use techron my next fill up. Who knows what gas the previous owner used. The car was a lease return

There was some chart that told you how much was in top tier gas but can't find it now. Some had more than others, but I think if you put in a bottle, that was way more than any top tier gas. But top tier gas is probably enough. I never put any in mine but then again, they say it might matter more in direct injection engines.

Top Tier says.
TOP TIER™ licensed brands are formulated to meet the stringent requirements of ten leading automotive manufacturers and four leading diesel manufacturers. The majority of automakers and engine manufacturers today do not recommend adding any additives to the fuel.

Techron is as good as it gets as far as a consumer good. Di engines should have an injection service at least by half life. Direct injection is a whole different animal than typical pintle or disk low pressure systems.

I’m using a 20oz bottle of Techron complete fuel system cleaner before every oil change. I’d be ignorant to think an injector in the combustion chamber won’t get dirty. I do this in my w213 and my wife’s x253 , as well as in my old direct injected cars. Also running top tier fuel.
