49, same advice to you. Get what you want. A person is entitled to a car they like. My BW doesn't have to like my Jag. That's fine. Its mine. She has her wagon. More power to her.

But at the end of the day a 19 or 20 E450 is going to be extremely hard to beat. But if your considering a 75 - 85 K car I would not be adverse to spending a grand to ship it, or even going to pick it up within say a 800 - 1000 miles. My free advice is to get the color you want, you are going to be living with it for a while.
I'd normally agree but my budget is up to $75K and Iridium Silver is my first choice, cheapest one I could find online (my dealer confirmed it) was $82K and its the only one left. I don't mind black, here in Texas its so dusty so no matter the color other than silver or white its going to look dirty after two days. My last several cars were white so don't want white again. My local MB dealer had two until last Thurs then both were gone, one white and one black. They are going fast.

You just ain’t whistling Dixie. People understand that the MY 19 and MY 20 cars are incredibly desirable. Buy one if you can.

Forget the budget. Buy the Iridium one. You will make it up on the back end.

They came back to me with a very nice offer, they have a Lunar blue demo with only 1100 miles on it, it is equipped with everything I want. They're offering 9% off MSRP and instead of 4 yrs/50K warranty, they bumped it to 6 yrs/ unlimited miles. I am very tempted as I do like the Lunar blue as well.

Is this a model year 2021? If not, 9% off MSRP is a poor deal for a leftover 2020 model.
OTOH if the longer warranty is a factory warranty covering everything it sweetens the deal. If it is a power train warranty or only good at this dealer, it isn't not worth much.

No, its a 2020. I don't think 9% plus the added 2 years unlimited miles bumper to bumper warranty is so bad considering there are only around 28 2020 E450 wagons left in the country.

I always figure a past model year is worth 5% off, the demo status should be 6-7% off (was it titled?), and a regular deal is 10-12% off at least, possibly more, What is a year's warranty worth. Easy to calculate since extended warranties (which in turn are discounted) have a MSRP. Without doing any research, I would guess $1200.

Lunar Blue is nice. I had one. But you were concerned about dirt and dust.

The dealers are in fat city these days. A lot of the stimulus money went into cars. Inventories are low as you are seeing. I would argue the All-Terrain is generating design obsolescence in the prior MY.

But its a game. Have fun. As long as you can walk away, you will come out a winner.

2017 E400 Wagon 4MATIC
New wagon owner here...just wanted to share my opinion. I'm switching from 2014 E63s Sedan to 2017 E400 Wagon and beside the V8 sound I don't think I'll be missing much, and rather will be enjoying the much more space, luxury, technology, economy, uniqueness of the wagon. One of the major flaws of my E63s in my opinion is the B&O optional sound system which reduces the trunk space by adding a tray for the extra equipment inside the trunk top. This substantially reduces the opening of the trunk and makes it difficult or impossible to insert a larger luggage or box (it's ridiculous). Another minus of the E63s, in my case because I daily drove it in NYC area, is the stiff suspension and low profile tires which make the ride not so comfortable.

Now, my budget does not allow me to pick up a new E63s or new E450 sedan or wagon, so that means I got the E63s 2 years ago with 93k miles and have put almost 40k miles on it. I'm in process of selling the E63s and few weeks ago picked up this 2017 E400 in Georgia because it has almost all of the options (Premium Package 3, Sport Wheel Package, Warmth & Comfort Package, Acoustic Comfort Package, LCD Instrument Cluster) and a unique color combo. This one is also kind of a high mileage with 80k miles but I intend to take good care of it and keep up with maintenance and whatever repairs. So far I'm loving it and I can't wait to do some exterior styling upgrades such as blacking out all chrome/silver trim, tinting windows, adding wheel spacers, changing front grill, rear diffuser, etc. I think once I'm done with it it will be a great family cruiser (the main reason why I went with this wagon is that I'll be expecting my first child and the large trunk will be great for stroller, shopping, traveling, etc.)

Congrats on the new ride. I love that color combo of red exterior and the nut brown interior. Happy Motoring

I live in Austin and I've only seen two MB wagons in the 7 years I've lived here. Now, I see Subaru Outback's every single day, lots of them and I've also seen some VW Golf and Jetta wagons as well. Once I did get passed by a Saab 9-5 wagon and that stood out to me instantly. It was a pre 2007 one before GM changed the front and rear ends. It was in a lovely ocean blue color.

There is a lot to be said for a SAAB 9-5 AERO. But that was then and this is now. Nice piece of nostalgia, but that's about it.

I’m on my 4th MB wagon, ideal car for me, storage of an SUV with a car ride.

Good luck with your wagon, nice color.

They're a rare sight, but when I see one I always admire them. There is one E63S wagon in Designo Red that is in a neighboring area to mine and its just beautiful.

I've seen three in my city of about 70k. I think there are more Ferraris than MB wagons.

Same here. I see more Italian exotics than MB Wagons where ever I am. Let's say Ferrari sells 8,000 cars a year and half of them go to the USA. That quadruples the number of MB wagons sold in a year. As my local Ferrari dealer once said, "The problem with the Testa Rossa was we made too many of them."

I've seen 2 over the last several years: a newer one on the Interstate tooling along, and one maybe 10+ years old in a small town in NC. Both white, as is mine. I've seen probably 4 Ferraris & 2 Lambos during that time. So thank my wagon is not so common as the supercars. ;-)

When Enzo Ferrari was asked why he produced 349 F50’s, he replied “we should always produce one less than we can sell.”

I'd be more inclined to get the new wagon if it had the option to paint the cladding the same colour as the body. The Audi All Road has that option, and of course it's only for the more expensive colours.
