PPF and Seat protection

PPF and Seat protection
Hi All,
I am a new owner of Mercedes Benz. Just bought a 2020 E 300 Sedan today. The exterior is blue and interior is cream.
Questions;
1. Does any of you apply PPF? If so, what type? For any of you in Dallas, can you also share where did you get it done and cost?
2. I have 2 young kids. My wife nags me for getting the cream interior even though it looks really nice. I didn't discuss with her when i bought it on impulse. I told her that I will put some cover to prevent spills or food getting onto the leather seat. What do you guys use to protect your seat and back of seat as well from dirt, shoes mark etc. If possible, please share photos too.
Thanks,
Patrick

Ahhh, that's the exact reason I avoid light color interiors. I don't know of any protection to protect the seats from food spills and things like that. But, I use to clean and condition the Nappa leather in my E300. I clean it and condition it every 6 months since it is garage kept and not driven much (maybe 20 miles a week?)

I have a 3 year old W213 with Macchiato Beige leather. I use Meguiar's Ultimate Leather Detailer to clean and protect the leather. The interior is still pristine. The bottom line is that it works as advertised. I also use Ultimate Quik Wax (polymer) on the exterior. It doesn't leave a white residue and can be used in the sunshine.

I have a full wrap in Xpel Ultimate Plus on my 2017 Merc and 2007 one with a Clear Bra in 3 M wrap installed when it was new. I am happy with both products in terms of protection and appearance even after 14 years. Unfortunately my installer is in Maryland.
I also have very light Beige Leather interior in the 2017. I also use Meguiar's Ultimate Leather Detailer and it works, however I have not had any real stains to deal with.

This was the case with older wraps, not so much with the newer high quality ones. Highly recommend PPF + ceramic coat. Personally have Xpel on my E43 with ceramic coating.

Just bought a '17 E300 (16k miles) and im getting the car buffed and wet sanded then a ceramic coat. It includes the interior and has a 7 year warranty. Its a lunar blue with beige interior. Got it CPO and they offered the coating for $400. Couldn't pass that up.Ill report after its done but im happy with it.

If it is MBTex I would think twice before putting anything on it.

Again, MBTex being synthetic, I would think twice before I would put any chemical coating and/or treatment on it. Having owned several Mercedes with MBTex, I can attest that a damp cloth with a mild cleaner removes any and all dirt - and I have a light color interior.
Just my $.02.

You certainly have more confidence in your dealer than most of us have. I believe the profit motive still exists and is alive and well at the Mercedes dealerships.

I hear ya. I am not sure what is going on it but I do know they told me if something spills like a gatorade or nail polish, they will get it out and if not replace the material to make it right. I really want the ceramic coating on the exterior. I take care of my cars and live in NY so i get all kinds of weather. If I can put another layer of protection on it for half cost then I feel better about it.
What I surmised had happened is that normal wear and tear, the dye from the jeans just wore off the MBtex: in other words the dye never penetrated the MBTex and it was just on the surface.
I for one would never want to change the composition of the MBtex. Gatorade, coffee etc. do not effect the appearance - a cloth just wipes those spilled surfaces clean.
Do not know about nail polish: do not use it and have never had the occasion of ever putting on nail polish in my car - nor would I ever permit someone to put nail polish on in my car.
I would ask for a quote for the exterior only - without the interior and save my money.
Just my $.02.

I live on Long Island. I have cream colored seats. I had dye from blue jeans run on the seat. Went to Mercedes. Could not get it out. Within 30 days it had disappeared. I was shocked. Seats are now perfect.

If you do a lot of highway driving a front bumper or partial hood clear bra or PPE whatever people call it these days would be good. If you have seen low sports cars how they look, rock chips are brutal. If you do local driving, I don’t see the point. Seat protection is not something you can protect against. The dragging of a 150-200lb human across a seat everyday is a hard thing to protect against lol. The seats seems will tear before the material will.

I had the XPEL Ultimate front end package applied to my W222 when I purchased new. The package includes full front bumper, headlights, half of the hood, half of the fenders, mirrors, and rear bumper trunk area. It cost me $800 in Southern California in 2017. The film has held up extremely well over the past 3 years and I am glad I did it. The paint is flawless under the wrap and you can see where rocks have hit the film and would've damaged the paint. I highly recommend it. This was the first time I did PPF on my cars and I will do it from now on. I was never experienced in this area but it was clear that XPEL is one of the best brands out there. Thicker material than other brands and no orange peel. Also backed by a 10 year warranty. Good luck!
