Battery reading 11.30v when not started

Car's 3 years old and it hasn't been driven since last week. Checked the battery volts and it's reading 11.30v. Last week, I had the car at the dealership and the car had the "start engine" with the battery sign-on. The tech told me to drive the car home and if the sign doesn't go away, I should bring the car back to the dealership. But, the warning sign went away when I got home. Last night, I unlocked the car to grab something and noticed from the driver's side window the warning sign was back. To me, it looks like the battery is shot. I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow to get some issues sorted out. Wondering if they will replace the battery under the factory warranty.

Not really. You should drive the car regularly or put it on a battery maintainer because the car never shuts off entirely. The car's systems are alive and waiting for instructions. There is always a battery drain.

If I don't drive my car for a couple of days, I hook it up to maintain the battery. If I drive the car at least 10 miles every few days, there are no battery warnings.

Yeah, the BMW does the same. I'm gonna see if the Dealership will replace the battery just so I don't have to worry about it for a while

I had the same issue with my BMW. The dealer responses were the same "There is nothing wrong with the battery. Drive the car a few miles every day."

I hooked an ammeter to my car so I could see the discharge even when the car was shut down. The dealers are correct! The car needs to be used to keep the battery in tip top shape.

Remember to lock the car. Locking the car turns off certain functions and the battery drain is less.

There's also something in vehicle settings called standby mode, one of my friends told me about it since he stores his GLC for days without driving it. It drains the battery less if you won't be driving the car for longer periods.

Drive it for an hour or two in sports+ or something, I had a starter battery critical message on Mercedes me a few weeks ago when it wasn't being driven and just drove it around for an hour at varying speeds and it went away, then when you store the car put it in standby if you won't drive it for more than a week

Are you reading the voltage with a meter directly on the battery?

I used a scan tool to read the voltage.

The only reliable way to measure voltage is with a meter on the battery direct.

I've been having the same problem for the last few months as I've been driving very little during the pandemic. Even the occasional short drive to the store and so forth hasn't been sufficient to keep the battery fully charged if the car sits for a week or more. Whenever the battery waring pops up my solution has been either to take the car for a longer but pointless drive or to open the garage door, lock the car, and use remote start to run the engine for 20 minutes (twice at the max of 10 minutes each time). Not great for gas mileage, of course, but better than finding I have a dead battery when I need the car for something.

I just had mine in for the schedule A. I wasn't having any problems but they said the battery was kaput and they replaced it under warranty.

That reminds me to do a battery top-off myself. Should be done in a couple hours.

I check the status of the battery with “connect Me” and it is always “partially charged” with short everyday trips

Costco sells the standard battery manager for $36. Thats $23 less than elsewhere.

Good idea, if a battery really was at 11.3 volts the car would never start.

Did you get the user manual with the CTEK? I bought mine recently and the instructions were pretty clear and straight forward.
Just have a look at the diagram here.

If the question is where are the connectors in the car engine bay, see the below picture. You will have to remove the cover. There are couple of small turning clips you have to turn first which is on the cover. This is Australian version, right hand drive.. so depending where you are, this may be on the other side.

On my US model E300 the red sliding cover over the positive battery terminal is located on the passenger side (away from the dipstick).
There is a brass grounding stud bolted to a frame member nearer the front of the engine.
