Arrow Protecting our E-classes from Salt on Wintry Roads

Now that we've entered the phase of Northern Hemisphere winter when snow may be falling, many places have (or will soon be) starting to salt the streets. Please share your best tips and advice to protect our cars from salt related corrosion!

I purchased a monthly car wash pass. I live in Iowa and we use both salt and a liquid chemical on the roads.

No worries about the car wash scratching up your paint? Or is it a hand car wash?

$35 a month for unlimited washes. Auto renews every month like a subscription. wash it twice a month and you already saved lol. Just made sense to me.

For $3 there is a DIY pressure washer place. I get underneath the car and get all the salt off as needed. If I drive a lot I’ll go once a week. This year is well very strange so haven’t been yet.

I'd like to know the statistics... How many MB owners: 1) have more than one car, and 2) how many is that?

Not to appear snooty, but I have 4 cars at my home and drive the "beater" when there is salt on the roads.

Not to appear snooty, but I have 4 cars at my home and drive the "beater" when there is salt on the roads.

One Corvette for cruising the Texas hill country, one E450 sedan for cruising/shopping/traveling, and one Toyota Tundra pickup for all the ranch crap. No salt here, just bad drivers.

Buy a monthly car wash pass. Make sure you use the touchless. That way you will not scratch up the car. I would get it done weekly at least

Just have your car hand washed weekly and you’ll be fine

Canadians are quite scarce this year because the border is closed. There are many more New Yorkers, Michiganders and Minisotans than in prior years. They swim while I shiver by the fireplace. Our condo keeps the pool at 90f/32c year round.
