PPF Over Headlights?
Hi All,
I'm a week away from picking up my new 2020 E450 wagon. I've made plans to get the windows tinted (ceramic 30% all around but windshield and PPF). A local company here in Austin had 168 reviews, everyone was five stars. I contacted the owner and he was very helpful and passionate about his business that him and his wife run. I'm getting the full front bumper, complete hood and fenders for $1800. The PPL has an eight year warranty and the window tint is seven years. He said he could do the PPF on my headlights for free if I wanted it.
Finally, my question, I've never done PPF on the headlights before. What are your thoughts? Will it not interfere with the adaptive lights and or reach and effectiveness of the headlights themselves? Thanks.

Congratulations on your new wagon. Last fall I put protective film on my '19 E450 Wagon (https://lamin-x.com/mercedes-e-class...ht-covers.html). The headlights already had some marks on them but look brand new after the film installation. After installation I notice the film distorts the light at the edges of the beams, which at night you can see as faint lines on the edges of your beam, right in front of the car. No one other than me would probably notice that, but it is there. Overall the lights are as bright as before the film installation.
Could be specific to this type and thickness of film.

I like the car very much. For years I have been stalking the E63 wagon, but could never bring myself to spend the money for a decent used one. Last year I ran across this E450 by accident and made the mistake of test driving it, and after that could not come up with an excuse not to buy it. Driving and operating this car is one of the best user experiences I have had in a while. Do not quite understand why modern wagons are so unpopular in this country.
This car is comfortable when you want to be sensibly touring, and it can scare the animals and freak your passengers when you drive it like you stole it in Sport+.
I am still looking for excuses to drive it.

2019 E450 Wagon
I’ve got XPEL PPF on my headlights too. I don’t notice any affect on the lighting quality, but that could just be beyond my perception. I intend to keep my wagon “forever”, so I see it as a barrier against replacing the lenses down the road. The PPF has some self healing capabilities on its own, but if it wears enough, it’s an easy, cheap replacement. Replacing lenses is expensive. Reconditioning lenses is also a possibility, but can only be done so many times. My wife’s SLK is 15 years old now and has had its lenses reconditioned twice. I had them do PPF over them the last time and like how that has held up, so did it on my wagon immediately after delivery (along with the whole front end and more).

2017 GLC300, 2020 E450 Wagon
I had XPEL applied to headlights about 5 months ago on my 2020 wagon. This film has a 10 year warranty. I was hesitant initially but was convinced by the installer it would help protect headlights against chipping. You can hardly tell the film is there and I don’t notice any distortion at night. I’m happy with this decision.

I did it on my 2014 E350 and they work just fine. The headlights depend on the cameras on the windshield. for all MB models.

I installed Xpel on my 2015. I drove over 100,000 HWY miles and I have no dings. I also installed in on the headlights and did not notice any problems. At the time MB Manhattan suggested 3M film but after reading online about all of the 2015 products I picked expel, When my wagon gets here I will buy Xpel again (from "Joe" in Queens NY) PM me if you want his number

I had a 2009 Toyota Tacoma I had ppf put on the headlights right after I bought it new. In 2018 I took it off just before I sold it. Headlights looked like new.
