Hoot sound when driving

On our 2018 E400 wagon, we’ve noticed on a couple of occasions a random “hoot” sound that sounds literally like an owl accompanied by a mild vibration. It has only occurred while on the interstate at speeds of 75+mph.

It’s hard to say exactly where the sound comes from, but we think it may be below the center console. There are no warning lights on the dash.

The car is Premium III with every option except air suspension. I know the car comes with rear air suspension by default. Has anyone else experienced an intermittent “hoot” sound when driving?

It is likely caused by the resonance of the run-flat tires. My sedan does this as well at speeds between 75-85. It can often sound continuous. What tires do you have?
