Head Up Display Settings - 2021 E450

Is it possible to adjust the brightness, position and anything else about the Head Up Display in a 2021 E450. I have found the on/off setting for HUD but I have not found any other settings.

Are there other HUD settings? If so, where?

Thanks!

Yes, one can adjust the position (up/down), brightness and content. There is a system menu item to do this, but I'm not near my car and I can't recall the exact steps. Look in your Operator Guide.

HUD setup 2018 E400 Wagon

Hi, On my E400 the HUD setup is on the menu in the instrument cluster. You can modify the brightness, position, and content of the display. I wish it offered more info options but I love the display. The HUD is becoming more common and many cars even offer color displays. Maybe the newer MB's do as well.
Ciao

The adjustment is in the "settings" gear wheel on the far right side of the Heads Up display. Item # 5 on page 226 of the operators's manual.

Thanks to everyone who replied. With your help and Mercedes Customer Care I learned how to get to the HUD settings. (They told me it's somewhat different in my 2021 from previous years models.)
I did all of this while the car was parked and I assume some things may become more apparent when the car is moving. To get to HUD settings:

1. On the touch control panel on the left side of the steering wheel, press the Home button.
2. On the tiny touch pad next to the home button, scroll up to get to HUD settings. Scroll up again to adjust those settings.
3. There are five sections to the HUD display (left to right): HUD on/off -- Left display area -- Center display area -- Right display area -- Settings (brightness and vertical position).
4. In the Left display area the options seem to be: Direction -- Average consumption -- G meter -- Empty.
5. In the Center display area the options are: Speed -- Speed with a down pointing arrow (no idea what that means) -- Empty.
6. In the Right display area the options are: Assistant display (not sure what that is) -- Traffic sign assist -- Empty.

I see several other HUD options on page 232 of 2021 Operator's Manual but I don't see them in the actual HUD settings.

Can the "Heads Up Display" be turned on if it wasn't included on the purchased (2021 E350) vehicle (i.e., is it simply a coding issue, or is it mechanical)? If it is possible, then how would one go about doing so?

As far as I know it is mechanical and needs to be specified at build. No retrofit options that I am aware of that are built into car.

That’s regrettable, but thank you very much for the response.

The display is projected up through an opening in the dashboard. So to "turn it on" the dashboard would have to be replaced along with additional electronics and a projector.

There are DOZENS of aftermarket HUDs available. Search Car Heads Up Display at Amazon.

My 2016 E350 has an aftermarket HUD, because they weren't available to order through MB at that time. It works great. If you think it looks funky and must have an HUD for your W213, then you should have ordered one built-in for a couple thousand dollars, versus <$50 for an aftermarket type...

(This is a photo from well above the dashboard. While seated in the driving position, you cannot see the projector unit.)
