New car
Picking up a new black 300de Estate tomorrow
Basic with Burmester, adaptive lights and towbar. Not possible to squeeze in extra sound insulation and adaptive cruise control.
Looking forward to the smell of new
Best regards, Sudden

Picked up now and it's really nice.
Quick report if you are interested. Compared with E220D 2016 with standard navigation (no COMAND)
I was expecting a little bit sluggish on pure electric but the torque does it appear very strong and responsive. Absolutely no need for the diesel engine under normal conditions.
Very silent in electric drive (no extra insulation). You can notice that the increased size on rear wheel is creating more noise or Pirelli is not as silent as Michelin.
Navigation and MBUX is soooo much better
It feels tighter than previous car
Don't have a problem with the battery intruding in storage space but the absolutely brilliant storage under the lid is basically gone.
Climatization when car is turned off is fantastic. Black car in bright sunlight and 27 degrees Celsius and it is cool when you get in the car :-)
Not sure about the buttons on the steering wheel. I liked the way I set the cruise control in earlier model, the scroll buttons are extremely sensitive.
But Mercedes, why is there no protection mat for the storage space available???

It's getting a protecting coat right now.
Can take a picture of the storage, not gone but dramatically reduced. Used to have a 100Ah battery for the boat trailer, bicycle holder for tow bar, snow chains, straps for my boat, jumper cables etc. Now, emergency pack, ONE of the charging cable, instruction book and some small stuff
I forgot to say but I miss the upstanding Mercedes star on the hood and the chromed grill. Cannot be selected in Sweden.
Have these pictures but the upload stops at 90%...

I find the e class set up for cruise etc on the steering wheel much better than the old system. Have got very used to it. The reduction in storage on the hybidover my current was something that has made the EQC more acceptable.for me it is having a flat load space that is important. SaidEQC also suffers from the same restricted space under the floor🙄

Hi
Pictures and long trip. The power distribution between fuel and electric works amazingly well. Setting navigator and starting the trip on smaller roads, then you get on the highway and it immediately engages the diesel engine automatically. Without navigation it will keep on electric engine. Passing cities it will switch to electric and back to diesel. Arriving at destination there is very limited amount electric.
The automatic retardation when you just takes the foot of the accelerator works without any awkward moments and you feel it has always been like this.
Overturning cars is a walk in the park, acceleration is very good.
There is a feature new to me which is the pre climatization where you can set preferred temp when you enter the car. Only tried the cool one yet and it is very easy to use through Mercedes Me.
Not really negative but in stretched out bumps on highway you can feel the extra weight when going fast (might be over speed limit). A little wobbling.
Concept with hybrid work good for us. All trips except the long trip so far has actually been on electric. We have a charger providing max charging at home with 3x16A feed by solar panel and a local power bank. In worst case it will use the power grid.
I will try to modify the protection mat (more of a flat plastic bucket) for trunk space
Trying to add pictures but it stops at 90%. Anyone knows why?

how much km's do you get out of a full charge ( especially if mainly on the motorway ) ?
i think the upload hangs at 90% when files are too big

Tried to upload smaller images but no success.
Pictures with flies etc on the car
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AueLWs2xcj1Mgud5...F9qZw?e=qDGHwv
I will try to adjust the mat to be useful when the floor is not flat.

Okay,
Some data on how far the electric will take you. Very hot, 31 degrees Celcius and AC on all the time. Mix between city and motorway, traffic and less traffic, not much but some traffic jam.
I got 61km on 100% electricy. with average speed of 51km/h. 14,9 kWh per 100km
Not particular soft driving and some speeding but considered the consumption with acceleration, even speed etc.
Picked up winter tyres and they are monstrous in size.

Good and bad
Average consumption down from 5,9 per 100km in my previous car e220d to 3,6 per 100km. This includes two long trips that we only does a couple of times per year. Almost 100% on diesel.
Suspension does not handle the extra weight very good in all situations. On speed bumps when the suspension is stretches out max there is a nasty bang from the front wheels. It actually showed up on the highway going over a stretched out bump that we have passed before many times in the old car without any noice. Scared me since I wasn’t prepared for it

Thanks!
It does come with crazy size tyres. Believe it is 275/40-18 back and 245/45-18 in front. On old one it was 225/55 R17 since I prefer smooth ride
will check if it is run flat and also check pressure
PS it’s MO so no run flat crap and pressure seems to be ok DS

Set the tire pressure to the minimum load pressure on the fuel door, it will help as well, don't use the pressures found on the door sill.

Checked the pressure and it is slightly below recommended.
Mercedes, why removing the clock!

Long trip yesterday on diesel
Gearbox has definitely a new pattern and feeling of being more quick changing gears, picks up faster after the actual change. Nice!
Stormy weather and heavy rain (radar sensor's couldn't cope with it - got an error message) but I clearly got a strange sensation of the back of car moving slightly sideways when the rain was very intense and I hadn't the time to slow down. Aquaplaning on the back wheels? They are very wide and reach outside the front wheels track
Love to drive it but it is actually annoying when the engine kicks in since it is so smooth and silent without the engaged engine. Wonder if I would have tested the petrol version for this reason.
