I didn’t know so many people were against the dealer washing their cars lol. I didn’t mind it before they installed a new machine that now bends the front license plates. When I pointed that out to the service person he said “that’s the new washing machine that keeps getting the plates stuck and bends them. Needs to be adjusted” but it only happened on my GLS and not the E.

Swirl marks, scratches, greasy windows.....dumb kids/adults getting paid crap to wash cars. Not everyone has a lease or a bottom end MB.

What do you use to clean the interior wood trim? I have the burl walnut wood trim. I use a non greasy residue vinyl/rubber protector/cleaner from Chemical Brothers that is awesome.

I too have burl walnut trim. I just use a wet rag or invisible glass. No film is left.

I used to go "crazy" about detailing both the interior and exterior of my cars. I have found that today's paint jobs are so superior to those of even 10 years ago that my car after almost 3 years, when I wash the car the water still beads up. As to the interior, I have MB-tex, a wet cloth or a bit fantastic cleans perfectly.

Have had a Mercedes in the family now for over 15 years - have never heard of the carbon flush? Yes, my dealer recommends some additional services which I always decline, but they know that before they ask. I will let them wash the cars, was in retail for 40+ years and cars sat in a mall parking lot for a great deal of time, and I detail my cars at least once a year using 3M's 3 step finishing products. As far as was cleaning the wood - used to use Liquid Glass till they stopped making it now use Finish First - yes on wood. My wife's 11 year old ML350 has burl walnut and has no fading what so ever. Used Liquid Glass for over 20 years and now Finish First for the past 4.

But if anyone is going to buy the Carbon flush - how about an ocean view condo in Kansas?

I was just reading on a detailer forum and some folks said they use Mothers liquid wax on the sealed wood trim as it protects the finish. I never thought of that, might give it a try as I plan on detailing the interior of my car on Sun morning.

No need to show off now!!

Are they more economical than the dealer? The best rated Indi near me is very close to same labor rate.

I recently provided the oil, oil, air and cabin filters to my Indy and he performed a "B" service for $160. Dealer wanted $750 which included the parts. I paid under $100 for the parts at WalMart and FCP Euro.

Can you really get oil, air and cabin filter from Walmart? I did not know that.

Yeah, that is a huge savings. Doing it this was still keeps one's warranty in place as I bought a MB ELW to cover 7yrs/75K miles so wouldn't want to lose that.

To each his/her own but I buy Mobil1 European Formula 0W40 at Walmart in 5 gallon jugs for under $25 when a rebate is offered that reduces the cost to under $15 for 5 gallons of high quality oil. Mercedes Benz recommends Mobil1 as evidenced by the stickers under the hood of my SL.

I mean, isn't the MB branded oil that they sell at the dealership really just Mobil1 oil rebranded?

I don't relish going into Walmart so I order online and then drive up and they bring my order out to me.
