Your fault MB is discontinuing wagons
It's Your Fault Mercedes Is Discontinuing Wagons
Mercedes-Benz is going to stop producing wagons by the end of the decade, and you could have stopped it
Article from JalopnikThat’s right. This is all your fault. After years and years of production, Mercedes-Benz plans to discontinue offering any wagons by the end of the decade because of low demand.
Wagons have seen steep declines in demand over the last decade — mostly because of the CUVs that have taken over the market in the U.S. For all of the dedicated wagon fans out there, sales have been slim enough that Mercedes-Benz sees no point in keeping those long boys on the market.
According to Automobilewoche, a German automotive news site, a lack of demand for wagons in “mega-markets” like the U.S. and China means the body style isn’t long for this world.
The future generation of the E-class, which is reported to arrive in 2030, won’t offer a wagon variant. The company also makes wagons for the C-class and CLS-class lines, but the E-class is the only one available in the U.S. Keep in mind, even that isn’t a traditional wagon but rather the high-riding All-Terrain. That is unless you spring for the Mercedes-AMG E63s, which still comes in a tradition wagon body-style.
The death of the Benz wagon — internally called “T-models,” really started in September 2020 when company COO Markus Schäfer said dwindling appeal and a focus on electric vehicles means there is no real justification to continue the wagon body style.
Automobilewoche’s report also says the company is considering alternatives to offer customers who still want a wagon, especially in Germany. Mercedes may offer high-riding sedans that can house batteries in the floor, as well as make a bigger distinction between crossovers and SUVs in it’s lineup.
If you are one of the few people in the U.S. still committed to a wagon from overseas, don’t worry: Volvo has your back. We reported that the Swedes have committed to wagons for years to come, despite a lack of demand.
However, if you really want a new Mercedes wagon, you’re going to need to act fast, because they’ll soon be gone. But we both know you aren’t going to do that, because you weren't buying these wagons, anyway.

Welcome to last week. And, no, we could not have stopped it. Consumers buy what they like/want. For good or ill, SUVs are the chosen ones today. If MB can't justify wagon sales in Europe based on European demand, then so be it.
BTW, Ford hasn't produced its iconic, full-size Country Squire Wagon since the late 70's. And the mid-size Ford Taurus wagen died in 2004.

A long time since we've had a Mercedes wagon in our family although they are popular in my country. I just hope MB is not going to stop production of sedan models now that everyone is buying SUVs (ICE or EV).

Hard to buy one when the dealers do not have them on the lot...
yeah forget ordering as very few do it and most buy their car when the old one craps out.

I mean people buy crossovers and SUV’s so that’s why the wagon is gone. Low numbers. I tried so hard to get my wife to buy a E Wagon over a ML350. I love our ML350 no doubt but a E Wagon would of just been better. Her car her choice.

So MBUSA offers an Aztec like AT and a $120k AMG model and they wonder why they don’t sell more wagons. Gimme a break.

I did my part, right now on autotrader there are less than 300 new & used wagons for sale in the US - range from 1982 thru 2022. If every one of them sold it wouldn't even produce a ripple in the sea of Mercedes. I do not consider the G a true wagon, neither does Autotrader when search for wagons.

Well, today I ordered a new All Terrain. MBUSA is buying back my 2020 S560 due to rough shifting transmission issues and I have until September to take them up on their offer. In addition, my wife and I have taken a giant leap—at our age—and have sold our home of 20 years. We have bought another property, where we plan to build a new home. So, I’m giving up my big S Class and going with something reasonably less expensive, that will also come in handy for hauling “whatever” over the next couple of years. I’m not a fan of the AMG front end or the wheel arch & rocker cladding, but from the driver’s seat, these AT Wagons drive much nicer than most any SUV, so I think I’ll be pretty happy. If they fit, I will probably put 18” wheels on it, along with non-run flat tires. Wish me luck!

Yep. I’m a fan of solid colors as opposed to metallics and I think Polar White is a very nice color, especially for a vehicle which will spend its life outdoors. My other choice would have been silver, but on this wagon, I thought white looked better. IF I had the ability to garage the wagon every night and IF MB had offered it, I might have gone with a solid color RED. I always wanted a “Little Red Wagon.”

Not my fault either, had plenty wagons, including 2 E-Class, a 2004 E-500 and present ride, a 2019 E-450.
Picture of empty lot, the E-450 and last but not least my better half.

Looks great! You’ll get a brand new home with minimal construction headaches. Living here in the south, coastal area of Orange County, nothing like you are doing exists here. So, we bought an original, very run down home, about 1/4 mile from the beach, which we will tear down. We are working with an architect and designing a new home from scratch.
Applying for a mortgage now, 5 weeks after I retired, no more income, the bank probably think we are kooks.

we bought a house after we retired. Bank doesn’t care where the LEGAL money comes from. We did have to prove where our money came from.
