Activated Intelligent High Beam Plus on My U.S. E300
Factory modification are made all the time in response to safety and other recalls, as well as design and/or durability improvements as the model matures. But it is a modification from OE specs and could have legal consequences (reminder: our justice system has little to do with right v. wrong, true v. false).
I don't think MBUSA makes money from dealership service depts, so they have no incentive to do anything unless many, many dealers and/or customers demand a factory-style update (as with recalls). How many older units that are capable of accepting the upgrade will pay the dealer to do it, and how does that benefit MBUSA? Subject to whatever their agreement with MBUSA says, I suppose individual dealers could offer the upgrade service, but same question. Is it worth it?
I think 3d party will be the way to go.

Prior to covid, the parts and service departments of dealerships were the cash cows profit centers: with Internet pricing, most of the profits on selling of new cars was whittled down: Used cars were also a large source of profits.
Now with the supply chain issues, service and parts that used to take a few days, can now takes weeks, so profits are way down.
With regard to activation of the full intelligent high beam, (my car has the intelligent high beam, but limited to cornering lights and high and low beams due to US regulation at the time I got my car) to do this you must have the physical light unit with 84 individual lighting chips. Not everyone Mercedes E Class has this lighting unit. This was an extra cost option, on my car $800.
I do not know if Mercedes will activate the system without a charge - even though it is nothing but a software update. I for one would be willing to pay for that software update: I would rather have it done by Mercedes rather than a third party.
see:

But very likely that Mercedes’ will not offer this activation for free or for a charge, as this has to be approved by Germany & the datacard of each vehicle it will be activated on to be changed, which is a mammoth task in itself
I take note of your comments about the difficulty of having Mercedes do this work and you may be correct. If nothing is done by Mercedes then I will be a customer of yours - once you figure out how to do it without a laptop which I do not own - only an iPad and a PC.

Also, with any J2534 pass-thru interface ( Openport being the cheapest ) all possible activations can be done remotely.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

There is no question that the intelligent lighting is a huge change and upgrade. It's amazing to see the tech working in my 2017 after all these years. Super bright lights, constantly dancing and projecting shadows on signs and other cars - it's mesmerizing.
I would totally recommend doing this upgrade.

I already have all the below installed in my car
1: 64 colors multi color LED
2: LED turbine air nozzle
3: LED 3D rotating tweeters
4: AMG display and menus
5: Track mode
6: Speed limit upgrade
7: Energizing
8: Start/stop memory feature
9: 3 blinks one touch turn signal
10: Full enhanced voice command
In some dark neighborhoods where a home had two lights at their door or at the end of their driveway, the new Intelligent High Beams stayed on. Previously, with auto on/off high beam, my car would turn off high beams there (the car thought the 2 lights were oncoming cars).
I had https://rjautomotive.net perform the coding remotely as they were recommended by others on MBWorld. The process was flawless, took about 20 minutes and they were great to work with. I was able to do the remote coding right from my own garage. Intelligent High Beam Plus is a big step up from Auto High Beams.

Getting mine done tomorrow morning 5/28

Had mine done this past Saturday 5/21. I have not fully experienced it as yet. Maybe didn’t drive far enough in dark enough areas. I did however notice the blue vs green light indicators in the dash.
Yep I also had RJ Automotive perform the coding and only took 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend them. I ether already have most of what they offer for my car or not available for my car
What I definitely wanted is the steering wheel swap along with the Steering Column Switch Assembly. They don’t do that remotely

Yay technology! It is hard to imagine how well these lights work until you see them in action.
