Hi Folks, I see many threads regarding this subject, but have not found one that is recent. I ordered a 2022 E 450 back in January of 2022--was told it would take three months for delivery. In April the dealer called with the PO number, and said the car was going to be build the first week of May---additional follow up and I was told, it would be build in May. I have been to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site to check the tracking--and the message is 'no record found'. Does anyone know the order and process of how these cars are built / shipped? (ie, once a month, etc). Are there any other shipping sites that MB uses that I could check? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Your dealer can pull up all of the information. They will have the estimated build date, then the VIN appears in your dealers’ system about a week before the car is built, followed by the ship name after it’s built…mine was completed and on a ship within a couple days…then you can track the ship using any of the vessel tracking sites.
Thanks Alan.....what was the time frame between when you placed your order, got your PO, then got your VIN? Also...did you use your VIN or PO to track the vehicle during shipment? Thanks again!!
All-Terrain built 3 months ago -- still in Germany
My All-Terrain was built almost 3 months ago, and is still in Germany waiting for a chip. It seems to have been built with everything I ordered. I'm starting to wonder if I'll get my 2022 about the time others are getting 2023s.
I'm curious if others have VINS for vehicles built months ago but haven't shipped. ??
Thanks Emerson11---when did you place your order? I feel the same way about the 2023 models...does anyone know when MB will begin to produce the 2023 E Class?
The deal was made January 13 on a car for my dealer had in the system and could modify to my spec. The build date was to be mid February, but it was sometime in early March. I've had the VIN since early March.

Order placed and PO received end of October, order accepted and build date (end of December) received end of November, build date pushed twice to beginning of March, ship info received at that point, delivered beginning of April. VIN received end of February, about a week before it was built. I tracked the ship on marinetraffic.com .

I registered for marinetraffic.com. Which section did you use? I'm assuming it's cargo traffic using the VIN #, but can't find an entry point.
I've tracked cars before by VIN, but I don't think it was this site.
I though you could enter the vin on Wallenius Wilhelmsen and find out the ship name. Then you can track the ships progress on marinetraffic.com
I placed an order begining of March and just last week got a VIN #. The build date was pushed out twice. Dealer ETA is mid July. (fingers crossed)
I placed my order for an E450 Sedan beginning of March. Car was built end of April and has been sitting at the port in Germany waiting for a ship assignment since.
They may use other shipping lines than Wallenius then.
I was able to go to the Wallenius website and under tracking I selected Customer Reference No and entered the PO# I got from my sales agent.
I now have details and the vessel name my car is on and its ETA to Baltimore. Wonder how long it will be at the VPC in Baltiore before its shipped to dealer?
Yes the vessel is from EUKOR who is owned by Wallenius
