W213 Audio/media slow non responsive driving me mad, help

Hey everyone
new to the forum, on my 4th Mercedes now,
had a W204 2010, W205 2014, C207 2015 and now a W213 2017 love the car.

had no issues with audio in the previous models, but this Audio/media really slow non responsive at times driving me mad, I have the small screen audio 20 on NTG5E, the car was perfect obviously would have preferred the wide screen but had no choice.

sometimes just switching radio stations take like 6-7 seconds. Spotify/ music works and then can’t hear it after a few songs, plays but no sound coming out, phone calls are impossible. I use an iPhone 12.

any advise assistance, how can I update software? Where can I check current software

please any help would be appreciated

Does the smaller screen have a slower computer module?

thanks for the reply, will get In touch once I have the relevant permissions.

I did read somewhere having an Apple Watch and an iPhone connected while in the car can interfere, I tried the media without the watch, makes a slight difference, but still very glitchy and slow.

Not sure you find many on here with the downgraded entry level system. Most members are from the USA here and the W213 in the USA always came with the high end system standard as far as I remember. It's not just the smaller screen. The entire system is different and less powerful. I've had a GLB loaner with the entry level system and it was awful frankly. You get what you pay for usually in these situations.

Try to see mefia operations improve with Bluetooth disabled.
Scan your car for faults. The media module does interface with the busy CAN-B besides MOSTS and LIN. The goal would be to minimize active fault counts to free up bus cycles.

I used to have a slow media with ok sound, now my W212'14 NTG4.5/7 radio starts playing in 1.5s or before display is done booting through it's splash screen. HD sound is sharper and cristal clear.
The distributed media system maybe the most complicated system on these cars.

Hopefully the Ninja can fix a bunch of issues to help reduce bus latencies.
🤞

thanks for the response

i do love a forum, a lot of help advice, I have messaged ninja so hopefully some more help, but yes as you say, more responsive if my phone is not connected via Bluetooth then a lot faster then with Bluetooth.

I would really like to be able to use the Bluetooth on my car

Yes disable BT only temporarily during troubleshooting.

Retrieving the address book over BT used to be buggy because of a hidden dialog that was not shown...

Also try to UNPAIR then PAIR again saying yes to every security access question. Do not answer any NO... as this will hang system afterwards.

Try not to drain your battery while messing around the media system... run the engine!
