Rear Park Distance Control Sensor (PDC) Replacement?

Has anyone replaced a rear-bumper park distance control (PDC) sensor? I have a damaged middle sensor in the lower diffuser (black plastic) section of the rear bumper and am wondering if I can replace the sensor by removing the plastic diffuser or whether the entire bumper cover needs to come out. Searched the forums but haven't been clever enough to find the answer. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! So I guess I'll be removing the bumper cover.
