Does anyone else’s auto high beams not that reliable?

I have a ‘19 E63S AMG with the multibeam LED headlights, U.S. spec without ILS activation. So my car just has the automatic high beams. I find that I very often have to switch the high beams off myself as they just don’t go off early enough and I’ll get flashed. Windshield is new condition, sensors are original and everything is spotless clean up there. No errors related to them or anything. Anyone else experience this?
Lastly, I’m having the full ILS activated as soon as I receive the module and I hope I don’t still have issues. We shall see.
As for the auto high beams, is it possible that the system can be recalibrated or something like that? Similar to what they do after a windshield replacement?

Thanks.

I can honestly say that mine have been working almost flawlessly. They are a little sensitive to isolated streetlights from a distance but that is reasonable. The only issue I have seen was that they didn't shut off at all on one drive, but I am writing that one off because the switch wasn't full in the notch for automatic (off by a fraction). Haven't had an issue since. The lighting is one of my favorite features on this car - not quite as bright as the xenons I had in my W212 with P2 but better around curves etc.
I am very curious about your experience with the ILS coding. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts once you get it done (coding process, how it works, costs etc).

My experience exactly: the switch must be auto, the high beam stalk forward and the "A" comes on in the lower right of the instrument cluster. Overhead street lights will sometimes cause the the lights to go to low beam.

I love the way the lights go from low to high beam rather than just on, as in my friends 2023 Audi 8L. I love the "sweeping" on and of course the turning of the lights as the wheel turns.

Yeah they are great headlights. High beams go on promptly after passing a car, and are sensitive to red tail lights ahead of me, but I’ve found myself having to turn them off manually quite often for oncoming headlights. The high beams just don’t turn off as early as they should. Sometimes they do, but a lot of times they don’t.

Your car doesn't have this issue: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...tricted-3.html
but gives me an idea, did you try cleaning the lens if it is dirty?

What are you using to activate the ILS.

Yes OEM windshield which has been replaced, but the guy said cars like this there are pegs which basically seat it only one way, so he says he prefers not to mess with calibration. However, it acted this way before windshield replacement as well. Maybe I should look into calibration?

RJautomotive out of London. I received my OBD module from them today and setup my coding session for this upcoming Wednesday. You can check out their website. Was also the best price I found.

Hmmm might be worth looking into, are you using Xentry for the calibration?

Good stuff!
Let us know how the session goes and how they work once it is done.

I just ordered my Remote OBD module for activating ILS+ from RJ Automotive also. Now I wait for it to get here. Hurry up! lol.

To the thread topic, I drive at night quite often and my automatic high beams work very well, but it's not 100%. There are some times that they stay on high beam when they should not be, but not that often. It's a bit incredible that it works this well given how many variables it must compute on-the-fly.

Very cool system.

It's about to get better for me!
