Got my EC stage 1 tune flashed today on my wagon...

Wow, it was quite the difference getting on the expressway this morning lol. Coming from a C8, it still an extremely "floaty" ride in comparison, (even in sport +) but that's the price you pay for some luxury the other 90% of the time. Exactly why I came back to MB.

Anyone have experience with stage 2? What mods were done prior to prepare? I see on the website that they mention intake, down pipes, or even full exhaust. Anyone rune stage 2 without those mods?

Which tune did you do? I'm interested in doing Stage 1 too.

I'm assuming "EC" is Eurocharged.

it was the stage 1. Pretty great improvement for the cost!

I got a quote for $1300 for a Stage 1 Eurocharged tune here in Maryland, that should theoretically add ~120bhp to the stock power band... going from 367 to 480hp. Not bad. I cannot tune until my car is out of factory and CPO warranty (Sept 2024).

@steveb76 can you add some color to your report on the EC tune? Yes, the car still remains somewhat floaty in S+ but what about seat of the pants? do you think it needs a tranny upgrade to handle the additional power or not? Would you recommend this tune? etc... etc...

Anxious to hear, but from what I've read stage one on this car does not require anything. Also, EC dealers I've seen, do a deal at thanksgiving if timing works for you.
I do wonder if shops confirm the mapping at service. I've had tuned cars that got service under warranty but never any kind of catastrophic failure.

For sure! A few things:

I have a 2018, so my stock HP was 328 to begin with....the claim is 448 crank, so about 400ish to the wheels Torque...354 to 520! This is great.

I dont have a ton of experience with MB 9 speed, but it seems more than capable with stage 1. Sport and sport + and this full tune (HP and TQ) comes to life, although the power is there even in comfort...just delayed shifts. Go manual, super fun.

There IS a bit of lag, but its very little...once the car overcomes, its seat of the pants power is there, I was really pretty surprised.

Overall, for less than $1500 the tune is definitely worth the price of admission.

There is a few threads concerning the 9 speed transmission in the W213 and the torque rating. The base torque rating is 516 lb-ft and some tunes puts more that that to the transmission.

Great info and you're right:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merc...c_transmission

This is the part that causes some concern with me, as the Eurocharged "estimated" gains for my car with Stage 1 is 528ft/lbs.

Even though it would only be normally a momentary load under full throttle, but still makes me wonder.

that momentary load statement plus conservative ratings from the OEM make me much less concerned. If I was drag racing or pulling tree stumps, then maybe. 😂

Yeah, I don't see myself pulling any tree stumps anytime soon, lol!

I'm with you, it's not like I think it will grenade a tranny or anything, it just gives me a little bit of concern, kind of like sitting in a chair rated for 100lbs... sure it'll probably hold me just fine, but for how long. ;p

Since I don't think I've seen anyone destroy a 9G-Tronic here, I'm assuming it's a non-issue but still makes me think about it.

Most turbo charged engine are close to max torque at about 2000 rpm, not full throttle.

You only get max torque at full throttle. Yes the engine needs to be turning fast enough for the turbo to spool up and provide max boost, but you don't get that unless you have the pedal to the floor.
Down shift to 7th gear on the highway at 60mpg but maintain the same throttle position, the engine will be spinning at more than 2k rpm but you won't be at max torque, you probably won't even be accelerating.

2013 e350 wagon
Just grabbed an e400 wagon myself. Upgrading from my 350 wagon - mainly for the ability to tune it and be able to take my 2 year old along on some cruises while keeping up with the others, which I can't do in my 2 seat z06.

Coming from COBB wrx/stis, tuned mustangs, a tuned buick tourx, etc... I am excited to see how this tune transforms the car. It's a HUGE power increase for the price. Makes me a little worried about longterm reliability bc there isnt too much info out there, or people upgrading their wagons with this, but I cant wait to see!

Almost 1 year follow up - how is the car holding up?

Anyone do the TCU tune and can comment what the drive experience was like before and after TCU?
