Odd issue

This might not be the correct sub forum.

Wife's 2016 E400.

Needed a jump last week; battery was dead. Jumpstart went fine; car started up and maintained a charge a week.

Car then sat for a week in a garage. It's been cold here.

Went to start the car today and it would not start. No crank, no turnover. Tried to start using the actual key rather than the button.

Tangentially both driver and passenger windows are struggling to stay "up" after closing the doors. They scoot up, drop, scoot up again, and stay in place.

What's going on here? Battery (per my wife) is "newer."

Mods feel free to move to more appropriate sub forum.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but it sounds like a weak and dying battery. Didn't the first symptom give you the diagnosis?

That's where I was headed as well; this is wife's car, I travel a lot for work, and it was her recollection that the battery was "newer" so the equation had a lot of Xs in it.

The window issue....does that point towards a battery problem at well?

In modern cars like ours, unexpected voltage levels can cause all kinds of weird and otherwise unexplainable behaviors.

I would start by replacing the battery myself.

Also, I don't know if this is absolutely true, but I've heard that the newer AGM batteries like we have are not good at recovering after a total discharge.

Welp decided to phrase my question differently when talking to my wife about this "newer battery" as I don't remember us buying one.

After a little bit of "you said it was a new battery" and "No I didn't" turns out that the was referring to the KEYFOB battery.

Uggh.

Taking it in tomorrow for.....probably a new battery.

If you leave in a salty area or rainy locale have the shop clean the main engine GND strap.

It is very exposed under the unprotected chassis near the hot cat muffler.
That defect directly helps create marginal charging conditions.

AGM batteries are good for 10+ years double conventional ones. They are the very best there is.
