For those of us that live in snow country, the Michelin CrossClimate2 is a good compromise. It does have the 3-peak/snowflake rating designating it a winter tire but is really an all-season tire. The tires are louder than a good touring tire but not as loud as a winter tire such as the X-Ice or Blizzak.
I have an E400 wagon and really don't want to strap a spare in the cargo area. Maybe it's how/where I drive (Vermont and New Hampshire) but I haven't had a flat tire since 2005. I do keep a compressor in the car. I did buy a can of Fix-a-Flat but I would only use it if it was a life or death (or close to it) scenario.

It's been such an unusual winter so far, we haven't really had any ice. On snow, they've been great at accelerating, stopping, and turning. I am just as confident on packed snow as I am with Blizzaks. I doubt they will do as well on ice as they have a very hard rubber compound to increase mileage wearout.

I keep an small inflator in the car. I also purchased one of these, and throw it in the car, if I will be doing a lot of driving out of areas served by MB dealers here in the US.

I went with the complete kit, including the carrying bag. I've taken the jack and tools out of the bag, and keep them in the "wheel well". And, the tire and carrying case just stand up in my garage.
Here's a thread about them, and the other accessories you may want: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...spare-com.html

I kind of like the MOE tires that came with my EQE. I don't know how much road tripping you do but as a city rat myself the most likely scenario involves running over a beer bottle in a dark alley on a moonless night. I really don't want t have to stop there to change my tire. I'd rather take care of it the next morning after a couple cups of coffee. Of course, if you had both, runflats and a spare, that would give you some redundancy and a plan B, which I hear can be important in life and death situations.

Yep I looked at that. Nice setup. I have 19 inch wheels not 18. Even though the after markets said that their 18" was a compatible spare for my 19" set, I decided to err on the sure side and grab the OEM compact spare.

If you already have a jack and a tire wrench, you may only need the spare: $359 a savings of $110

Yeah no worries, I have all of the tools and the compact spare was ordered a bit ago from Germany. It arrived in the US a couple of days ago and it will be at my front door by the end of the week.

Can anyone post a pic of their spare tire in their trunk if you have a wagon? I use my jump seats in the summer, but would be curious how much space the spare takes.

Following....I will likely never use the jump seats so putting a spare under there seems like a great solution.

2018 and before you should be good to put a spare there.
2019 and after don't have room for a spare, and have a large bar across that space under the jump seats.

Still hoping for a pic of the spare under the jump seat floor.

I found my original thread from 2020 about my experience with spare tires. I ended up paying list price ($510) from my local dealer shipping included instead of $376plus shipping from the Mercedes Benz Parts Center.

Just ordered the Modern Spare for my 2017 E400 Wagon from Amazon, Didn't order the full kit since I already have a 1/2" drive breaker bar, the proper socket, and a scissor jack on Amazon is a whopping $14.00.
Based on what others have said here, the spare should fit under the floor of the rear-facing seats. If it doesn't, I can send it back to Amazon.

Replaced the run-flats on my SL400 with Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons and got this. The big problem for the SL is where to put the flat after you remove it. I'm sure I could make my passenger get out, but then she'd kill me.
