Talking 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300- Very slow wireless charger!! Any fix?

2017 Mercedes E300- Very slow wireless charger!! Any fix?

It tunes on but just keeps the charge it has, maybe 1% every hour!

I have a Samsung s23, the quick wireless charger is all set on my phone!

Cant believe Benz has all this technology but has the worse wireless charger I have ever seen!

Wireless charging is one of the most inefficient way of charging, it heats up so much I call it a phone warmer. Therefore I don't recommend using it. Sorry if that wasn't the answer you were looking for : (

Mine works fine in my 2017 E400 wagon. Never really checked to see how fast but it's certainly faster than 1% per hour.

Something is wrong. Make sure that you phone rests flat on the charging pad.

On my Galaxy S24 there is a setting at Settings/Battery/Charging Settings to enable both fast charging (25 watts) and super fast charging (45 watt via cable). The wireless charging in my '18 E300 is very fast and takes only a few minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. The Galaxy S24 indicates fast charging on its display.

Your experience is not normal for the MB charger. Time to get it replaced.
As an alternative you can plug in your own charger for the phone.

What is running on the phone when wireless charging? Do you have AA running along with Google maps or Waze? Those can draw a lot of power and negate the wireless charge performance. Also, how old is your phone and do you follow proper battery care? Do you let it drain to zero or charge it to 100% often? Both are bad for overall battery health. I'm not saying the problem are with your phone but don't rule that out either. Try powering the phone off and charge wireless with the car to see if something changes.

Yes. Seems normal to me. My 2012 Volvo made a similar sound. Can't remember what the tech said it was but he said it was normal

OP mentioned no problems with an audi apparently so assuming app usage is the same, the MB wireless charger might be weaker or not functioning properly.

Thank you L1Wolf!

I got it to work, I took out that rubber mat and now it charges fast!

one thing, my phone does not lay flat on the wireless changer, its too small, is that normal?

I was temped to cut out that plastic to make it lay flat- would that make for a better charge?!

Also don't like the heat, is that normal its not super hot but warm. :-)

Not laying flat should not be an issue as long as there is not too much distance between the phone and the charge coil in the wireless charger. Removing the pad reduces the gap and makes for a better charge. Usually it's not enough for the pad to make a difference but it can in some situations. I would not cut anything on the charge end as you may cut into the actual charge coils.

All wireless charging create heat and that is normal. It shouldn't get hot though. If it's getting close to being too hot to touch then that is bad. If it's warm putting it to your face but not uncomfortably so, that is normal.

If it gets too hot, your Android phone will complain. BTDT
IIRC a message will appear on the car's status display.

Great thank you sir!

But I was just going to cut where the cup holder is to give it more room so I can lay completely flat I thought maybe I'll get a better charge out of it why didn't Mercedes make this long enough for cell phones I wonder if there a purpose behind having that bit of a gap?

And I'm assuming there's no running fan underneath there to keep it cool?

Eight years ago when the W213 was released virtually all cell phones fit. Cell phones have gotten much larger since then. Many are more like small tablets.

Yes I understand that but mine is very small it's not a plus size a mega size or anything it's actually smaller than the average phone size, it's a mini.

What exactly is your phone model? My Samsung Galaxy S24 fits with room to spare.

I think with everything that I read- wireless chargers have never really took off because they're not as fast as plugging your phone in to a wall socket.

Not to mention they can produce more heat which is not good for the battery and also in the car your alternator fluctuates with voltage, taking off or coming to an idol that may not be good for your battery as well.

So I have an actual socket in my Mercedes I just use that now, it just works better and fast charges with no heat! 🙂
