Telephone call other party cannot hear me talk
2018 E300
My iPhone worked fine in my 2018 E300 until recently. Now the other party on calls can barely hear my voice when I am on a call while I am in the car. because the volume is so low
More specifically, when I start to speak my callee can hear my normal voice for a fraction of a second, and then the volume of my voice immediate lowers to a level that is barely audible to the counterparty.
I have tried:
1) Testing the voice command system, it works fine.
2) Trying another iPhone in my car, no difference.
3) Resetting the COMMAND system.
I googled and found a LOT of complaints about this issue from Mercedes owners of many different modern models.
Do you have any information that would help me get this issue resolved, other than blessing the dealer with untold thousands of dollars?

First place to start is always to determine what has changed? What version of iOS are you running? Did you recently upgrade the OS to 18.x? Some people have reported BT issues after upgrading to iOS 18. Does this issue only occur over Bluetooth or also while it's plugged in to USB and you are using CarPlay? I don't really make phone calls while in the car, but I haven't noticed any BT or CarPlay issues since I upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro and running iOS 18. That also begs the question of what iPhone do you have? Bluetooth and other connectively issues can often be traced back to corruption on the phone from upgrades over time. Crud left behind may require a factory reset or at a minimum resetting the network settings on the iPhone. One way to rule out apps or corruption on your phone would be to factory reset it and set it up as a new phone w/o restoring from a backup. Then see if the issue is still present. You can always restore from a backup later to get everything back, but at least this will help you rule out specific software/data issues on your phone.

Thanks for the thoughts. An iOS update is a possible cause. But fyi I tried three different iPhones in the car (16 Pro, SE 2020, 7) with no change, though all had lthe atest iOS.

A couple of things you can try to rule out the iPhone. If you know someone with an Android, try that and see if you get the same results. Another is to try your iPhone in another car. That can help you figure out if it's the phone or the car. One thing to check on for the car is the microphone. Maybe it's bad, has dirt in it, or perhaps a loose connection.
