This is also something that bothers me. Is there a way to get any climate functions to automatically turn on when the engine is started.
It would be really great if I could get the max defrost and seat heaters to turn on when I use the app to remote start my car in the winter - and the coolers/ac in the summer (like in my other cars).

Nope, that's Auxiliary Heating, an independent fuel powered heating to work when the engine is off.
The Residual Heating is a less effective system that uses the coolant residual temperature to maintain the heating, limited to 30 seconds and the point where coolant is no longer hot enough to provide any heating at all. It is recognised by the lettering "REST" on the A/C switch.

And I correct myself... Where it says 30 seconds, I meant 30 minutes. Sorry for the mistake
