Can anyone top this range?

On my last trip to Vermont, December 8, 2024, after filling up, I checked my range: 676 miles!

Car: 2019 E450

Mileage: 49,044

Outside temperature: 48 degrees

Tires: Pirelli Cinturato P7 run flat

Tire pressure: 35 PSI cold

Fuel: BP regular 87 octane

Speed: between 65 and 73 mph

MPG: 34.5

Good to hear (see!). The best indicated MPG I have achieved is slightly less about 36 mpg.

What has been your maximum range? Have you exceeded 670 miles?

I don’t know. I rarely drive more than 100 miles at any given time. I’m going to Columbus next week (200 miles) and I’ll check

I use Shell premium gas and have replaced the run flats with Continental pure contact tires set to 42 rear 38 front

Good fuel economy but I thought you got a W214, or was I mistaken and it was another forum member?

Did you try glide mode and see if it positively or negatively affect the fuel economy?

I bought the E450 for its smoothness, so I do not push my car.

My individual settings are: steering: Sport: ride: Comfort Engine: Economy

I prefer the comfort setting on ride, and sport on steering. I like to get the best fuel economy possible: I remember the Mobil Gas Economy run commercials from the 50's and 60's! So when cruise control is not engaged, yes GLIDE mode does activate.

FWIW, I saw no difference in mpg between 93 and 87 octane, as I do not push my car I use 87 octane, either BP or Costco.

I see understood. I forgot what screen but it shows how many KMs were traveled through glide mode.

In my car the screen is how many miles you have gained by economy mode: it does not break down by GLIDE only total miles gained.

Using economy mode the mileage gained, if accurate, is pretty impressive.

My extended warranty runs out December 2025. At this point my intentions are to either keep it or get a W214 so you may have seen my posts on the W214 forum.

Shifting at low speeds with slight acceleration is very, very rough, like the universal is shot. Also I had the rear shocks replaced at 30,000 miles under warranty and I think my front's are also gone.

I have taken it into the dealer already: Transmission they said needed a computer update. The shocks they said were fine - no leakage. That of course is BS: shocks can wear out without leakage.

I plan to take my car back in the spring after ski season and depending on what they say: if they repair the transmission and replace the shocks, I will probably keep it. If not, then trade it in.

Thoughts?

Oh I see thanks for confirming I think you can't go wrong getting the W214, the main type of improvements I heard so far is a more comfortable ride, more tech, might had improved driving assistance systems, better noise insulation, roomier interior.

The main drawback so far is if it is first model year the usual first model year issues, the main issue so far is battery and software issue at least thankfully nothing mechanical in the drivetrain.

If the taillights don't bother you it is good evolution over the W213.

Software issues can be fixed but depending on the circumstances might take a few visits to fully patch it (from what I read not just on the W214 but also W206, EQ vehicles as well)

Speaking of shocks, were the wheels ever bent or alignment ever off? What cold tire pressures were it set to and what is the typical temperature in the area? These factors could wear them off more.

Have you ever used Ethanol Free gas?

I have seen a slight increase in MPG, but it was offset by $PG

Honestly I do not know. I buy whatever my BP and/or Costco is selling. For BP it is on Long Island. For Costco, Springfield, Mass.

I religious check my tires for wear: so far they are wearing evenly and the car tracks straight and true: so need for an alignment. Cold pressure is 35 PSI year round. I have an air compressor and in cold weather top to 35 PSI as needed. Rims are fine except for a few normal "curb scuffs".

I live on Long Island, NY and drive to Vermont for skiing. So temps range from Zero to 95.

You have to look for it.
This site is a good place to find it.

https://www.pure-gas.org/

You will have better look looking for it outside the NYC area.
In your case, VT or upstate NY is the best bet.

Hmmm, strange your shocks keep failing then, definitely premature.

That is impressive: I have a 21 galloon tank and I believe the 2019 E300 has only a 15 gallon tank!

On the other hand I could never drive at 60 mph on the Interstate, especially on flat roads. Our Interstates speed limit is 65 but most people drive at 70 MPH plus.

Is Ohio 75?
