Has anyone fitted one of these? (EV charging port cap)

I have a 2021 E300de, and I broke the EV charging cap\cover thing, cost £150 for the part, the dealer wants another £435 to fit it!! My guess is rear bumper off to do it but surely it cannot be that hard, I'm fairly comfortable with most jobs, as long as this won't need any special Mercedes only tools!

seems like robbery.

Part price alone is crazy for some plastic.

I 100% agree, not even including the painted cover (which isn’t broken so I can swap that!).

Well, I’ve not gone through this process myself, but to pull the bumper off many of these Mercedes, you need a long socket for one of the bolts in the middle of the bumper. I wouldn’t say it’s a specialty tool, but it’s not generally a tool that people have at home. Probably $10-$15 for the set of two wrenches since it might be hard to figure out which size yours is.

hopefully someone can share the wis document

Ah ok thanks, that won’t be a problem, as long as it’s a normal socket type.

thanks.

For anyone who find this post in future, I replaced this myself and saved the £300!

It took about 2.5 hours but would have been faster if there was a detailed video\post out there on how to do it, follow the ones on YouTube for the saloon, lights don't need to come off (mine was just really tough around there and it wasn't 100% obvious there wasn't another clip or fastening) make sure to get all bolts and the plastic pins things underneath and around the wheel wells, and then its just brute force to release the bumper, only tool that most people won't have is a long 10mm socket to get the 2 bolts from inside the boot.

Once the bumper is off, replacing the actual part\cover is easy. There is a pin that, once you take the spring off, just gently knock all the way through with a hammer or other tool.

Then just reverse the process.
