Hi Everyone - decided to buy a professional borescope camera after my cheap Amazon special decided to quit on me. I looked at all four cylinders in my M274 engine and found some pretty lines in cylinders 3 and 4. I have to admit that these lines were present for a very long time and that the car runs great, and has no issues currently. When I ran a leak down test the cylinders were all holding @ 95% for 5 minutes with no issues. Compression tests show a flawless result. Car has 160,000 miles and has had it's oil changed every 3-5,000 miles.
The little pieces of debris you can see is from the intake valve cleaning I did a few days ago. I will blow the cylinders out with compressed air and drive the car a little harder when I first first it up again to get rid of those deposits.
I just wanted to post these screenshots to see what everyones opinions are. Like I said, these lines were present even at 100,000 miles. They probably just look a lot scarier to me now because of the better lighting and camera quality of my new borescope.
(Also as a side note - you can still see the cross hatching on the cylinder walls. which tells me they're in very good condition overall. The lines are just bothering me that are present in the pictures)
