The best angle of this car I believe is the side profile and that's it, I actually don't dislike the headlights but what is with the EQ like surround of the grille, the luxury trim is tasteful but as everyone mentioned it isn't available in North America so ouch.
The superscreen should be cheaper than the hyper screen given how the driver screen should be standard in the first place and there is only two screens covered under glass, not that I will personally option the super screen as I need wood in an E-Class, period. Which thankfully the standard screen will offer.
I really don't like the taillights and I don't know if it will ever grow on me, it is too showy (in a bad way imo and tacky imo)
Curious how the base headlight and taillight will look like...

I found the unveil video poorly composed and very distracting, version 2.14.
Zoom calls, selfies and Angry Birds???
Where' safety first? Where's form follows function in those Mercedes stars in the taillights?
Mercedes is marketing to a crowd I no longer identify with.
How about some history as to what made the E-Class so famous with engineering like no other car in the world?
And yes, bring back the luxury grill is only an option for those "old school Mercedes",
Zoom calls, selfies and Angry Birds???

I was hoping Mercedes would celebrate the end of their marvelous history of internal combustion design and luxury appointments with a big bang in the last gen E class. Bringing back that old tank like build quality and high grade luxury materials. I do not see any of that in this car. The lego tail lights, IMO, are more tasteless than the LED grille logo, sorry if I offended any lighted grille logo owners out there.

Wow the exterior looks really nice, the interior....not as much but hey......I'm not a buyer anyway. Still exciting to see a new E class though.

I was hoping they’d keep the two half circle DRL for the base lights too but they didn’t, oh well. Shame because it helps a lot with distinction. Also that “base” interior without the massive screen is the way to go imo. Still a landscape oriented screen (wohoo) and the wood adds a lot of character. It might not be to everyone’s taste but I do like the ambient lighted star wood pattern, it looks really cool at night and the little details during the day give more visual excitement. E450 AMG line + digital lights + rear wheel steering + “base” interior with star pattern wood would be my spec. So many good interior and exterior colors that’s it’s too hard to choose, which is good because they really limited the W206 compared to the outgoing W205. Super happy they kept around the 450 with the I6 and even gave it a slight power bump, was scared they were gonna leave the I6 only to the AMG.

Better than the new C or S from an interior perspective, but not by much. Awful headlights and gaudy taillights (they've found a way to put more illuminated stars in your face to remind the chinese buyer that they really have moved on up to that deluxe apartment in the sky!). The W213 looks better inside and out, however, and no offense, the interior quality it a big step down from the W212 in my opinion after spending time in a loaded E450 as compared to my E400. I suspect this generation will continue that trend.
I know it's cliche' and I hate to say it, but I really cannot envision myself purchasing any mercedes post 2016 aside from maybe the older design W222 or coupe version of it.

I now own a 2019 E450 and prior to that a 2016 E350, both with a V6 engine:
I find the interior of the 2019 vastly superior to the interior of the 2016. The 2109 is elegant: If you look closely you will note that there is not a straight piece of wood anywhere: each piece of wood has a slight curve to it. Not having flat surfaces is extremely pleasing to the eye. It is expensive to do vs. the straight wood surfaces on the 2016. I see no difference in the interior quality - if anything the interior quality of the 2019 is better than the interior quality of the 2016.
Having said that, and as I have posted, I prefer buttons which are tactile to having almost everything on a huge touchscreen. This race to the biggest screen makes no sense to me. But what do I know: I have been driving Mercedes since the early 80's, am old and Mercedes is looking to sell to the younger generation - many of whom do not even know what a ignition/car key is!
Mercedes used to be function over form, superior engineering. Now luxury seems to be defined by who has the most gadgets, electronics, etc. all of which are a distractions when you are actually driving.
Just my $.02

Unfortunately or fortunately, MB moves forward from physical buttons to touchscreens. Sometimes, I think it is not up to MB to decide this course of direction. It is just the wheel of progress moves and everything has to follow or faces the fate of being eliminated.
Phone is just another consumer product that follows this wheel of progress. See how physical buttons disappear?I bet younger generation do not know how to use a rotary phone.

Actually there was test a few years ago showing a rotary phone to young people.
They did not know what it was - never mind how to use it!
Touch screen on a smart phone makes sense: To me makes no sense on a car other than the cost savings to the OEM!
