Mercedes-Benz Unveils the 6th-Generation W214 E-Class

@js_cls I just wanna thank you for finding and posting the pics as they come in. We appreciate it.
P.S. Still not a fan of the tacky star grills and brake lights.

I'm with you on the taillights (wtf?) but the rest of the car I think is a great and mature progression of the previous generation.

Not a big fan of those Japanese anime headlights. The interior looks expensive but has no character. The profile is as sexy as the W213 but, in my opinion, the front end looks better on the W213. The Mercedes logo tail lights ruined an otherwise decent looking rear end on the W214.

I think the front end is an improvement, the W213 Facelift was a bit too fussy in the front and looked not as good as the pre-facelift. I find this car looks much more elegant/expensive than the prior car too, more S-Class rather than C-Class which the E typically shares more in styling. The Cirrus Silver vehicles are especially gorgeous.

Having said that, other than the stylistic improvement, I don’t think the new design goes far enough, for a total re-design. The interior space etc., is still as small as that of a Honda Civic, with the Honda Accord having nearly half a Foot of additional legroom over the E-class. Granted there’s the RWD/FWD packaging aspect in play, when it comes to the Accord/E-class drastic interior space deficit, but in that case, they should have introduced the long-wheelbase version of the E-class sold in some countries in Asia, as the underpinning of the W214 E-class.

I agree. the W214 front-end in particular, is a big improvement over the facelifted W213 (2021/22/23). The W213 front-end looks small and unsubstantial, from my perspective, while the W214 is unabashedly masculine.

Looks are OK - tail lights tacky, plastic tacky, but not a factor for me. Still has the damn 4 arrow /ok control on the steering wheel, which doesn't work unless you really concentrate on it - the video demoes show many misfires. Maybe the voice control is better, because if not, I'll be looking for something with more buttons for controls., maybe Genesis.
Nothing said about how they improved safety, sturdiness of frame, better airbags, whatever.... Everything is about tech controls which were better on the W212 as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry, let me reiterate what I stated in my prior post. The E-class sold in some countries in Asia (China, India etc) are a long-wheelbase version, that solves the interior space deficit. This W214 should have used the longer wheelbase version, as the basis for the US E-class. That would have solved the drastic space deficit. You don’t have to go to the S-class for more room, since a version of the E-class already comes with more legroom.

The Volvo S90 is the closest you will get to a LWB E-Class in the US, as Volvo only supplies the US market with the S90-L, most likely as they do not have a proper flagship sedan.
