I seem to recall a time in years past, when Internet Brands professed to becoming more "membership focused." Ignoring membership input in this thread can hardly be considered "membership focused."
Suggest you conduct a poll to gather definitive membership opinion (which IMO will become immediately clear)... or provide an email contact at Internet Brands where MBWorld members can direct their complaints.

I used to be a mod on a different forum and it takes 60 seconds to add a new forum classification like what's being unanimously requested here. You've already spent more time than that arguing with the forum members about it. I really don't get it. Just add a W214 forum like everybody is asking for. There's enough evidence by all the comments in this thread that this is what forum users want.

This site is getting to be like MBUSA . But all jokes aside how does STAFF of Mbworld not understand the difference between a W213 and W214? If you are going to run a forum dedicated to Mercedes vehicles, one would expect those running it to understand the brand. E-class is the model, W214 is the generational chassis code. Just like iPhones, cars go through different generations. You’re not gonna search for a protective iPhone 12 case if you own a iPhone 15. The 213 and 214 are fundamentally VERY different cars that require different subforums period. If you have an issue with your W214, why would you search through the W213 forum for the answer? Why are we trying to reinvent the wheel? Listen to the people that use the damn site! Not everything needs change, this is the basic layout of all car forums across all brands.

i am suggesting that former approach of a forum for every model is not sustainable and doesn’t build community the way forums for vehicles that share components can work. it also creates endless scrolling and choice in a time when removing barriers like that is really the best practice.
Once again, as many others have stated, W214 is a unique car. Someone looking for W214 info will not look in the W213 (or any other) forum. All cars "share components", but it doesn't make them the same car. We shouldn't even need to have this conversation it's so far beyond ridiculous..

Since the W214 will be the last gas powered E class, it definitely needs its own section. I drove a EQS500 the other day, overall, I cannot say I could justify the extra $20k for the electric version of the E class.

I’m betting it won’t be the last. That being said, it should still have its own forum.

The expectations and needs of those seeking info and discussion about the outgoing W213 are very different than those seeking info and discussion about the new W214, whether new forum members or veterans. There is no logical reason why they should be combined, period.

Even within the W213 series, there are quite a bit of variation and minor face lifts in its 7 year cycle. Lets not add more confusion to an already confusing Mercedes fast changing design and modification cycle, much faster than most other non-euro car manufacturers.

Ya, this is kinda dumb. I've been on car forums since they began over 25 years ago and there's always a separate forum for each new generation of cars. Why? Because I wouldn't go to a W213 forum to find out about a 530. Why would I go there to find out about a W214?
I'm currently considering a new E350. There's literally nothing about the old E350 that could help me with my decision.

Yikes, Not logical reason not to have a separate group for the separate Series W214. It will not cost anything but a bit of storage space on the server. It is going to happen, just do it now and be done with it.

I just bought a W214 so definitely looking for a forum to post about it. I like how the IB Staff guy dropped a couple bombs in here then disappeared.

I agree there should be a W214 forum. I currently own a W213 which I am selling once the W214 arrives. I also have a W238 which has a seperate forum. I don't look for things in the W238 when I want info on the W213 and once my W214 arrives I really have no interest in W213 issues.

not sure if this is already mentioned but some forum members suggested how the AMG sub-forums are like and instead of having all generations of E-Class listed on the homepage of the forums, just list E-Class there then put all the generations inside that (like a folder) and then there is less scrolling that way or if not keep it this way and just make it collapsible only showing E-Class then when the user clicks to expand it shows every generation, we already have Mercedes-Benz Sedans as one of the "folders" therefore we could make another "folder" called E-Class then E-Class (W212) a "folder", E-Class (W213) another "folder", etc.

that would be going in the opposite direction of our goal. that is adding even more taps and depth to the structure, our goal is to ‘flatten’ things to reduce the number of taps / hunting for the right area.

This is interesting…but not surprising…but where did you hear the W214 will be the last gas powered E Class?
