E450 4Matic recall

Has anyone heard about a recall for the 2024 E450 4Matic recall? Another dealer told my friend that they have a black E450 but said can’t sell it b/c it has an open recall that was issued but parts to be released shortly. Unfortunately, my E450 has been sitting in the German port for almost 3 weeks and not sure if this might be the reason. Thanks.

I checked the NHTSA site using the VIN of my E450 and there are no recalls but the one that I mentioned above has 1 recall. It is related to the transmission wiring harness. It appears that certain 2024 E Classes sedans and wagons are effected, possibly the earlier production cars.

Sitting at a port for 3 weeks waiting for a ship is normal. If your assigned ship just debarked Germany, it has to complete is voyage and return to Germany. Of all the cars I bought that were shipped from Germany only one was at the port less than a week. Most waited from 2 to 4 weeks.

From my understanding it's an issue that was introduced in the actual manufacturing / assembly and issued back in late March. It's very likely that Mercedes knew about this many weeks or months before they issued the recall and therefore would have adjusted the assembly procedure to route the harness properly to avoid this issue. Based on the recall listed at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=24V224000, it affects roughly 396 cars and I doubt yours is one of them unless it was an early manufactured model. Even if it was, I doubt that would hold up the shipping as this is correctable at the dealer and would be addressed before you take delivery.

Just curious, what was your build date and how long after the build date did you get an update that it was at the German port?

Thanks! That gives me hope that I may see mine sooner than end of August. I have a July 1st build date. I'm assuming it will be ready to ship by July 5th and who knows how long it will sit at port. Hoping mine gets there shortly before the ship sets off for the US.
