If you have ever wondered, like I did, about what the process is to ship a car from Germany where many of our cars are manufactured then the below video is a good watch. It's a bit long but very interesting. I stumbled on it when I was doing some research on how my order for a 2025 E450 will get shipped so I can better understand the timeline. There are a few other videos but this is one of the better ones I have found. Many of the cars on this ship are Mercedes so who knows, you may just see your car. Enjoy!

If you do a Google Earth search of the Bremerhaven port, it’s amazing how many thousands of vehicles are parked awaiting a boat ride.

Yeah, I've done that. It's not a current representation since the Google images can be many months old but it does give you an idea. It's an endless sea of parking lots full of cars. And there are several huge parking garages that are multi-level. The parking lots make the enormous ships look small. Quite amazing how many cars are shipped around the earth every day, month, year.

From my experience, the process involves choosing a reliable auto transport company and determining the best shipping method for your needs. Open transport is the most common and cost-effective way, but enclosed transport offers extra protection if you’re shipping a high-end car. how much is it to ship a car across country can feel like a big deal, but it’s usually straightforward.
The cost can vary depending on the distance, vehicle size, and transport type. On average, you might be looking at around $1,000 to $1,500 to ship a car nationwide. Getting quotes from a few companies to find the best deal is a good idea. Also, check reviews and ask for references to ensure you’re dealing with a reputable company.

In my case, it was shipped by the manufacture and I had nothing to do with it and no choice on the transport company or any of the process. The car didn't belong to me until I purchased it at the dealership in the US which was after the full shipping process was complete.

I’ve always wondered about the logistics of shipping cars from places like Germany too. I’ve done some research in the past when I was waiting for my own car delivery, and it’s always cool to see how the process works. The video you mentioned sounds like a great watch. When I was getting my last car shipped, I found CarDealerKing.com to be super helpful in tracking the process. They had a really user-friendly interface, and I got great updates along the way, which gave me peace of mind. Hopefully, your E450 arrives right on schedule!

Open transport was the cheaper option, but I went with enclosed since I was moving a higher-end vehicle and wanted that extra protection. The price varies depending on distance and the type of service, but getting multiple quotes helped me land a good deal. If you’re looking into options, I used this site to compare rates and services: https://www.a1autotransport.com/. It made the process easier, and the tracking updates were really useful.
