Did you remove the films on the hood/doors?
Just got a white E350. Planned to wax it but figured out the hood and the doors are partially covered with transparent films. I believe they are more protective than wax but may not be good for waxing? Did you remove them for this kind of work?

Is it new? There should be no films on a new car. You can install Paint Protection Film (PPF) and a ceramic coating after but that would be an additional cost done by the dealer or a third party after you buy it. You can wax over top of that but it's not necessary. It won't hurt though.

What film exactly is left on the car? If the dealer did a bad prep job or had a new guy working that day, I can see how some material/paint work may still be covered in the transport film. Still, please do take that off as they are not meant to stay on the vehicle exterior for a long duration if you are looking for protection first PPF the vehicle and apply specific ceramic coatings made for PPF on top just as Wolf mentioned.
