The Hey Mercedes didn't work unless I yelled. I took it to service and they replaced the microphones and then it worked fine. All of a sudden the fun commands don't get recognized. I can say "Navigate home" or "What time is it?" and those work. If I say "What is the weather in Anchorage Alaska?" or "What sound does a dog make?" those no longer work. Anyone know if I need to change something in settings?

 

Wonder if there was a software update that changed things.
I did hear reports for example the 2025 model year vehicles Mercedes Me aren't "funny" anymore.

They tried a software update first to fix the initial problem. That didn't work. They did the microphone replacements and another software update which fixed the initial problem. The funny answers worked after that. Then a week later they stopped.

Weird Mercedes decided to remove those commands, it was kind of cool.

 

Then an OTA update might had been pushed to disable it, unless some kind of privacy setting is disabled I forgot what it was called but something like process data online that might be disabled that is required for these jokes. Are you also opted in to the ChatGPT beta? If so you could try opting out.

I have the same problem, not sure if it started after dealer did a software update or not. It won't tell me a joke or what the weather is like. Only basic commands work like navigation, set temperature, ambient lighting or making a phone call. Dealer changed the 2 microphones, I got the car and right away it didn't work. To add to the problem I now can't lock the car using hand gesture, I can unlock it fine, just not lock it. I can still lock and unlock using my phone or my key.
My service adviser told me to take the car home and he will find out if there have been similar issues and how to fix it, he will call me once he has solution. I really hate to get the first new model year as all the bugs haven't been ironed out. I had a 2021 E350 before this and as it was the last old model I had no issues whatsoever......

 

Yeah, I've had several issues. I'm getting the windows tinted this morning and hope to make it by the dealer early afternoon to see what they have found.

 

I’ve heard reports that the Hey Mercedes feature is not working. Yesterday mine would not work. I’d ask something and she’d ask to repeat the request. After repeating, it would just shut down with no response. I thought maybe I’d messed something up because I had just switched over to a new iPhone 16 but then heard others were having the same problem

Just a quick update...Today I got in my car and all the fun commands seems to be working! My hand swipe to lock the does still does not work though. The unlock with hand swipe still works. This happens right after dealer did an Electronic Ignition Lock Control Unit software update, although my service advisor told me that should not have affected the door locks....

 

I wonder if they pushed some other software update as well.

Yes the service advisor told me that maybe it needed to "sleep" first before it started to work again. We'll see how long it'll stay working on, I hope it doesn't break down again. I don't mind going to the dealer for a free car wash, but not keep going back for service...not fun!

 

Well, I haven't heard from the dealer yet, but my fun commands started working again today. Must have been a software update that was pushed because I haven't had service do anything.

 

Thanks for the update. The Mercedes Me girl must have been sick for a couple of days and now she is well again and able to hear all our questions again!!!
