Hood Star

I ordered the hood star for my 2025 E450 and I really like the look. The view is a little cut off from the drivers seat perspective but still plenty visible and serves as a center line while driving just fine. The base is actually a bit smaller then the flush emblem and sits completely within the dimple of the hood while the flush emblem sits over the dimple and covers about 4mm further out. It's an easy install. Under the hood there is a rubber grommet that you pop out and there are two tabs at the 3 and 9 o-clock positions that you pinch and push to take out the flush emblem. Then the hood star fits right in and you have to turn the base 90° to lock it in place. I used a pare of needle nose pliers to turn it. Then just put the rubber grommet back in place. Took about 1 minute which included cleaning the area. The part number I used was 210-880-01-86 which I ordered from Amazon for $54. I got the PN from this post by DFWdude. The Amazon product page says it's for a an 03-05 C230 and specifically says it does not fit a 2024 or 2025 E-Class but it fits perfectly. The dealership says the part number is 213-817-08-01 and they were supposed to give me one for free but have said the part has been on back-order since I bought the car nearly 2 months ago. I got tired of waiting and thought I would try this since it's returnable if it doesn't work.

Flush emblem right next to the hood star so you can see the size difference.

View from the drivers seat at my eye level. I'm 6'1" and keep my seat a little lower than some others might so my head has enough clearance to the roof.

I put the all chrome one on mine (part #A 221 880 00 86). I ordered it through Mercedes as I’d heard a lot of the stuff on Amazon and EBay were counterfeit. The part was $70 thru Mercedes.

The dealer wanted my VIN and replied that it would not fit my E450 and the part was not refundable. I told him to please just process the order. Fits perfectly and looks awesome…

If I were to do this, I would also replace the grill with the star.
Is it hard or complicated to swap grills?

Ya kind of agree but personal opinion only really, the big star in the middle and another hood star is a little too much after all there are all those little ones on the grille and the taillights. Will be nice if it has the exclusive line grille like this one: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wmrudEJeWtg/maxresdefault.jpg
