Paint repair?

My car was accidentally hit by some hard object which left a small dent with metal(?) exposed. I'm thinking of getting a touch up pen (found the part#) and clear coat (don't know the part# yet) for it, but is that the right way for this kind of repair? Does MB have repair kit for paint?

Instead of using touch up pens, could consider Dr Color chip, it comes in a kit and much easier to apply.

When I got my W204 a few years ago there were rock chips and paint chipped off the bumpers. I bought a nail polish sized bottle of paint off ebay. It doesnt match perfectly but after it dries you wouldnt know it was touched up unless looking for it up close. The plastic bumper is more obvious since the paint is cracked but I dont see doing a better job other than respraying it. I get tons of rock chips on the hood that I noticed would start to rust. Ill use q-tips and isopropanol alcohol to rub the rust away.

To apply the touch up paint I use an insulin syringe, i'll use the brush in the bottle of paint and dab a little bit of paint on the tip of the syringe so theres a tiny blob of paint, touch the tip of the syringe right into the middle of the rock ship or scratch and it seems to fill and level on its own. If it doesnt look good just wipe it off and do it over.

I watched my SA: he takes a business card, puts a tiny drop of paint on the corner and just touches the area with the nick.

I have the touch up kit from Mercedes which includes paint and clear coat: two separate bottes. Has been sitting on my desk for two years!

With this thread you guys have gotten me motivated to finally do the touch up on my car! THANKS!

Heres what my repairs look like with hardly any effort, I just wash the area, wipe it down with isopropanol alcohol then dab on the cheap paint from ebay.

The rear bumper has the paint just chipping right off.

Heres a big rock chip on the hood. Maybe a clear coat on top would make it shiny and blend in better. My main goal was rust prevention.

Many of the MB body panels are aluminum which do not rust. That being said, an excellent paint touch-up looks better than a chip. A mediocre touch-up, not so much.

I have a W204. I went out with a magnet and where it does NOT stick is the plastic bumpers obviously, the fuel filler door, and the front fenders. Magnet sticks to the hood, trunk lid, and all the doors and rear fenders. Forgot to check the roof.

I noticed a few more chips I have to fill in, two looked like rust. I probably deal with rust alot more than most since I live right on the water, park my car about 10' from the ocean.

Can you check the part number of the clear coat? I just can't find it online.

Thanks. Mine is polar white which has only one bottle, I guess that's paint only. Does that mean there's no clear coat on the car?

Iridium Silver is a metallic paint.

Do not know about polar white.

If the area is small, the clearcoat may not be necessary.
