New Car is a Real Pain in the Rear

Hi friends,

Just picked up a 2025 All-Terrain and I was curious if anyone else is having trouble with the seats? I took it for a few test drives before and didn’t notice any issues, but after a slightly longer (~1 hr) drive and since I get some pretty annoying lower back pain while driving. Never had this issue in my ‘18 wagon or our ‘23 GLE but this car just does not seem to like me. I tried the automatic seat positioning and did everything else I could think of. I’m ~6’3 240 so not tiny but I didn’t expect it to be an issue.

Just curious if anyone encountered a similar issue or had any advice. Even reached out to the dealer to see about trading it in but that’s a bath I don’t feel like taking right now without a toaster involved.

Thanks!

Do you think it is because the leather needs to break-in?

What seats did you option? I had a 2024 E350 with the standard seats and now a 2025 E450 with the multi-countour seats. Both are quite comfortable. I'm 6'1" and 230 lbs. Both are not the all-terrain but the seats are identical I believe. I took a 14 hour road trip a couple months ago and they were great the whole trip.

I have the standard leather seats and have the same complaint, however, it seems to be getting better. I think the leather on the bottoms is somewhat thick and stiff and has gotten a little better with break in and I’m hoping will continue to get better/softer. I wish there was a way to raise just the back of the bottom seat without raising the whole thing as it seems to dip down too far at the back.
I had to lower the lumbar as low as possible to get any comfort.
I’m 6’ 205 lbs. Either it’s getting better or I’m just getting used to it.
