e300 rear ended-advice on new E
want and the $5000 discount seems good and I
may be able to negotiate a little more . Would appreciate any input/advice. Thanks in
advance!
and so did my wife. But--our 2017 E300 was recently totaled in an accident . We're driving a rental car paid for out of pocket. Finding a 450 with a color and equipment we could accept was very difficult, even being flexible about these things. The only possibilities would take
4-6 weeks to arrive. We just couldn't wait that long. Today we bought an E350 in alpine gray with all the equipment we wanted to be delivered in the next couple of days, at a 10% discount. Too bad we couldn't find a 450 but this is a very nice car.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
As I posted before, we preferred the E450 but needed a car immediately and there were no 450s available with the equipment we wanted, other than in black or white. So far--knock on wood--our new alpine gray 350 is very impressive. No defects/repair issues (knock on wood), very quiet and comfortable, complicated controls but lots of electronics to play with. Compared to our E300, it's much much smoother and quieter (can't hear if the 4 cyl. engine is running from inside the car), has many more electronic functions, better self steering and braking, more comfort. Averaging 24 mpg in city plus freeway driving. My wife drives it primarily but I look forward to my opportunities (even though my car is a Porsche Boxster S). If only we could do something about those idiotic retracting door handles--talk about a supposed solution for a non-existent problem!

And totally agree with your sentiments on the portion highlighted above. Those retracting door handles are something I can certainly do without. Just 4 more potential future failure points. They may have been going after their exceptional cD rating for the car (via less air turbulence), with the retracted handles, but for the customer, it offers absolutely nothing of value.
