E/W214: Recall for black screen fix.
Got a GLC hybrid as the loaner, but it refused to start in the evening when I came back from work. Ran with the motors and the engine started on my way home, few miles away from my office. What an adventure!

------------------------Mercedes-Benz internal recalls (often identified by numbers like 2024090014, 2024090016, etc.) may not always be mandatory in the same way as government-issued safety recalls. Whether they are mandatory depends on their classification:
- Safety Recalls (Government-Mandated)
- Issued by regulatory agencies like the NHTSA (U.S.), KBA (Germany), or Transport Canada for safety defects or regulatory non-compliance.
- Mandatory for the manufacturer to fix free of charge.
- Not legally required for the owner to comply, but strongly recommended due to safety risks.
- Service Campaigns (Internal Recalls)
- Issued voluntarily by Mercedes-Benz to address non-safety-related defects (e.g., software updates, minor component issues).
- Not legally mandatory, but Mercedes may require it to maintain warranty coverage.
- Often performed when the vehicle is brought in for regular service.
- The NHTSA website (nhtsa.gov/recalls) – if it's listed, it's a safety recall.
- The Mercedes-Benz Recall Lookup (mbusa.com/recall) – to see if your VIN is affected.
- Your dealership – they can clarify if the recall affects your warranty or vehicle performance.

Mercedes didn't list these two recalls on their website, so you will have to visit a dealership to figure out, I guess.

Does anyone know what the symptoms would be? Is it just the car not starting? I had a strange occurrence the other day when I approached my car in the garage. For some reason the LED lights around the door handles did not light up like they usually do when they extend. I got inside the car and the brake pedal was completely stiff when I tried to press it. I pressed it as hard as I could to start the car and it worked, but I was just wondering if maybe this was a symptom of that first Service Campaign mentioned above. My car is an April 2024 build.

I think the door handles are light sensitive as it makes no sense to have them light up in bright sunlight. Was it during the day?
