At MBUSA.com the curb weight of the 2025 E53 is 4,244 lbs. It seemed low to me so I sent MB USA an information request.
This was their response today:
"I have reviewed our internal documentation and it also lists the curb weight as 4,244 lbs for the 2025 AMG E 53e."
Q. Do any of you think this is too low to be accurate? Many car reviews have suggested this car is 5,200 lbs.
At MBUSA.com the curb weight of the 2025 E450 is 4,376 lbs. I would have guessed all these things would make the E53 heavier than the E450, not lighter:
Big: Big 28.6 KW battery
Big: Fairly big 120 KW electric motor
Small: Bigger standard wheels (+2") and tires (+40mm)
Small: Performance related stiffening bar(s)
Small: Wider front track (more material)
Small: Extra bits on the "AMG Enhanced inline-6 turbo" engine & tail pipes
Why does it matter? 20% heavier makes a difference in tire pressure and physics in general.
Yeah, they are pulling that out of you know where. The EU curb weight listed on the MB Germany website is 2390 kg. This includes an 80 kg driver, so subtract that and it's 2310 kg. In lbs that's ~5092 lbs. Add some additional options that are standard in the USA, but optional in Germany and you get to the 5200 lbs.
