Ambient lighting issue?

Trying to determine if the rear door ambient lighting is supposed to be noticeably dimmer than the front? All brightness settings are cranked up, but both rear doors are significantly dimmer, even with a single color selected.

I've never noticed they are dimmer, but I didn't really look to compare. There are brightness controls, but I don't think there is an adjustment for just the rear doors. Have you looked at the brightness settings?

The rears should be able to be adjusted separately on the menu. I’ve turned my off as they are too bright even on the minimum setting and distracting and can’t hardly see them during the day. I can live without them.

I don't remember exactly what zones are available to adjust individually and I'm not able to go to my car right now to look. If memory serves, you can adjust direct, indirect, accent, and the bar. I believe the lights across the doors, both front and back are part of the direct zone. Indirect are things like the foot wells and accent are the light around the ceiling console, center console, and maybe around the door mounted control panels. And the light bar is just the light under the windshield. I could be wrong though.

Okay, I decided to go out to garage (detached) in the rain to see as it was bothering me that I could not remember. I was partially correct and partially wrong.

There are in fact 4 zones. Direct, Indirect, Accents, and Light Band. They are as follows.

Direct - light around center console, door handles on all 4 doors, and light bands across the top of rear doors only.

Indirect - light in all 4 foot wells and around the control panels on all 4 doors

Accents - light going across the front dash vents and around the ceiling center console.

Light Band - light across the top of both front doors and between the dash and windshield. It forms a continuous bar of light across front and sides of the front occupants.

If you have them all linked meaning the same numeric level for each zone, the light band is much brighter than everything else by a significant amount. I keep my light band level at 5 and everything else at 20 which to me, makes them all appear to be the same brightness. This is why I don't notice the back to be dimmer than the front. The OP would need to do a similar adjustment to correct the difference in brightness.

I have mine on the multi-color blue during the day and red at night as the blue is too bright in the day. It would be nice if a routine could dim them at night, but that is not possible.

Yeah, all zones are cranked to 20, even if I leave the front zone at 10, crank the rear to max, it still is dim in comparison. The camera makes it brighter than it is in the rear, front is beaming.

Set your front zone (Light Band) to 5 and everything else at 20.

I could do that I suppose, though I’d rather it was right if the current way it works isn’t. I’m going to do a battery reset on it, see if it brings it back to expected levels.

I doubt a reset will affect that. The light bar is brighter. That's just the way it is. It was the same in a 2024 I had as well. I used the same settings of 20 and 5. Not because I wanted to doors the be the same relative brightness, but because I thought the light bar was too bright at night. I believe the Light Band has more LEDs in it so it can do some of the additional functions with multi-light and sound visualization. That and the fact it's a thicker light strip than the others makes it a brighter light. In short, I believe it's by design that the light bar is brighter than the others.

Really this was the info I was looking for, normal or not, if it’s normal I will adjust for it. Appreciate the input!
