I've owned mostly silver or gray cars.
My current E300 is Selenite Gray (992).
Silver works on MB because it is very classy : )

Love selenite grey as well, many of my MBs were selenite grey. I like the elegance of lunar blue though. I mean, you really can't go wrong with either but blue at least stands out (for those interested) from the sea of grey scale cars on the road.

When I was deciding on a color for the AT, I commented to the sales guy that his parking lot was a sea of black, white and grey, and he said "Ah, yes, a German rainbow"...

Colors of the three Mercedes in my family: S-class (selenite grey), W214 E350 (graphite grey, my son's car bought on the lot), W214 E450 (obsidian black, my own custom-ordered car). At the time of my custom order of the W214 E450, I was not able to locate a nautical blue car to see it in person for comparison. Looking back, I probably would have ordered the E450 in nautical blue instead (by no means a major regret but with slight preference over obsidian black).

No, being a brand new color, I am leery of its long-term appeal. In addition, I prefer dark-colored cars and one of the major reasons I went with obsidian black and not nautical blue at the time of my order is that, without seeing it in person, I was afraid that it may have a lighter blue tone. Turns out nautical blue is a darker blue color than I even imagine and it really fits my preference of a dark-colored car (close to almost black at a certain angle of sunlight). Again, I do not have any major regret in the color choice I ended up with, but I do have a slight preference of nautical blue over obsidian black currently.

Yes. Incidentally, after I put in my custom order for my W214 E450 in obsidian black but before the final build/assembly date, my dealership was able to show me another car (not W214) in Lunar blue (not available for W214, only nautical blue). I decided that Lunar blue has a lighter blue tone than I wanted and it actually solidified my decision to stay with my color choice of obsidian black. As it turns out, nautical blue has a darker blue tone than Lunar blue and now it flips my preference of it being a slight favorite over obsidian black.

Gotcha as long as there are no regrets.

I find that silver and gray blend in too well with the color of the road which makes them harder to see.

The blue exterior paint on a car truly gives off a sense of sophistication, elegance, and individuality.

Maybe this article has a reason as to why I choose blue. I don't know, but I like subtle over flashey and blue says that for me. Again, not taking anything away from other colors. They are beautiful, but it's not me.

Great article, thanks for sharing. I also like blue but don't buy it because Texas is very dusty and blue shows up dust like crazy. I usually do dark red, white or copper as those colors hide dust/dirt well.

IIRC Texas has wind blowing up from Mexico most of the time. Around OKC/Norman area that I visit regularly the red dust comes straight out of the South every day.

And don’t forget the massive dust storms out of west Texas when the wind blows hard from that direction. The only thing to slow down the wind from that direction is barbed wire fences…

That impacts the windshield too, no? It is like sandblasting?

That sand blowing can't be good for the paint : ( since we are in a topic of talking about paint colours, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about paint. Curious how the paint of a vehicle is in a low dust environment compared to one in a high dust environment.

Blowing sand from the roadway isn't much of an issue. A sandstorm is different. I've had chrome plating and paint removed and glass "frosted" when my car was exposed overnight during a blast.

Does it cause pitting on the windshield?

Since you mentioned sandstorm, for those (I guess not a lot of people) that lives in an area that gets too cold for salt to work, they use sand, how does that affect the paint?
