Service Interval

Bought the E450 CPO with 6855 miles and now has 8051 miles.

There was nothing specific in the Carfax or other documentation that a Service A was conducted or that the oil had been changed.

The service display indicates that the B1 service is due 2/26 which maps to two years from in service date.

B1 is A plus brake fluid, cabin air filter, essentially.

Am confused that the system isn't calling for a Service A oil change until a date that will exceed 10000 miles.

Does this suggest that oil was changed before I purchased and the system knows ? Oil level is at max which given my prior experience with MB would not typically be the case with this mileage unless oil service has been done.

Your selling dealer should have a record of the service performed when the CPO inspection was performed. The A service was probably performed in 2/25 (one year after the in service date) which would explain the anticipated B1 service date of 2/26.

Most synthetic oil should be changed once per year or at 10K whichever comes first. Your car was likely done at the 1 year point. Put your VIN into CarFax and it will tell you exactly when and what was done it it was done by a dealership. You should have gotten a CarFax report when you were buying the car, but you can just look it up if not.

Original Carfax was vague and a new one cost $45 which is too expensive

You can setup a free CarFax account and add your VIN. It will give you full service history.

Doesn't seem to work. Still wants to charge me. That's OK

Edit: I see. Needed to add to my profile not as a search

Does it show a previous service?

Yes oil changed as part of CPO plus 2 new tires, which is hard to believe unless that's shorthand for polishing and remounting rims which I did notice had been done due to polish residue upon purchase

Thanks for the tip

Maybe I am missing something here, and I am mechanically challenged -- however, wouldn't an oil change be done when the car was CPO'ed? If so, doesn't the car/system know that and just look out to the next service, which would be B? Regardless, good luck with the car!

CPO paperwork, which is a standardized checklist, doesn't specifically say that oil is changed.

One could reasonably assume it would be if coming up to a year or mileage but there would be no affirmative statement, regardless.

It turned out that only the detailed Carfax subreports, if you will, beyond the high level MB provided me, actually went into detail.

Depending on who did the CPO process, I seen dealerships going through the checklist and checking things off in their office sipping coffee.

The oil change interval can be easily reset without actually changing the oil so that is something to keep in mind as well.
