Having Superscreen but not having seen a version without until just today in person but thinking I might like the wood on the passenger side, I noticed that the driver screen and wood don't meet on the same plane ? Unlike the Superscreen where it all flows.
Without the super screen the center screen does look more like a mounted tablet since its not even with the rest of the dash. I personally like the seamless look of the super screen, but will admit the function of having a passenger screen is not that useful. Maybe in the future an update will make it mote useful. Its just a decoration for now. I keep the functional compass up and my son and daughter have used a time or two, but its mostly just the compass.
Same with me. The superscreen is at Compass setting and looks nice with different pics depending on the holidays. I have very few passengers up front who will not use that screen as you need a profile or guest settings. Neat and looks very smooth as stated above.

I personally selected the non-super screen because I didn't like the large swath of plastic and the thought of a passenger playing with the dash while I was concentrating on the road just didn't appeal to me. The wood with the metal strips does look great. Personal opinion.
My Taycan CT 4 was the first car I owned with a passenger screen. My wife missed having the screen in our 2023 EQS SUV. She is in the passenger seat 90% of the time I am driving the car which is frequently on a road trip. A zoomed out navigation map is usually on the passenger screen while a close up map is on the center screen. She is able to search for POIs on the passenger screen without disturbing the map view on the center screen.
If you drive alone most of the time, the passenger screen will be of little use.

The drivers screen when illuminated may seem to be in relief as the image is viewed through its protective overlay but the overlay surface actually merges with that of the passenger side

I guess "fuses" is open to interpretation. Every image I've seen of the E-class has the driver's screen, i.e. the one with the speedometer, as a flat panel that it mounted above the steering wheel. It looks like I could grab it and break it off. It may be better integrated into the dash design than in some other cars. But it is definitely not full flowing or fused. Glued maybe. But not fused. Are you referring to the center screen?

My apologies. I thought the full width screen was called "Superscren". But the full width/seemless/fused screen is called the "Hyperscreen". The Hyperscreen does not have the separate tablet for speedometer/tachometer.

You are correct. The superscreen does not include the driver display. In fact, the superscreen is still two separate screens but they are behind one single piece of glass. This is the center screen and the passenger screen. The only difference in the non-superscreen E is that there is no passenger screen and the center screen looks more like it is mounted on top of the dash rather than in the dash. The hyperscreen in the EQS has all three screens, including driver, behind a single peice of glass. In both cases they are separate screens with a single peice of glass to make them look as if they are one. They are not.
The E class does not come with a Superscreen. The EQE500 does.
Actually, I think MB does call it "superscreen" in the W214 E-class. As a distinction, MB refers to the one used in the higher-end models of S-class and EQE/EQS as "hyperscreen", which has all 3 pieces of driver, center. and passenger screens fused into one piece of glass. In contrast, in the supercreen used in the W214 E-class vehicles, only the center and passenger screens are fused together whereas the driver screen is not. Without the superscreen in the W214 E-class, it is quite noticeable that the center screen is kind of hanging separate from the wood structure on the passenger side. Personally, I prefer very much the clean asthetics of a superscreen in the W214 E-class.

Correct, however the term "fused" is a bit misleading and more a marketing term used to make it seem like it's more than it really is. The superscreen is two completely separate screens mounted behind a single peice of glass. The hyperscreen is three completely separate screens mounted behind a larger single peice of glass. They could just mount the screens on top of the dash and have the same functionality, but the look and asthetics are much different when they are "in" the dash. I agree that it looks better with the screens behind a single piece of glass.
Having one continuous screen that is not rectangular would likely increase cost for several reasons. As technology advances, it will get cheeper. There are several examples of them but they are rare still. Check out the

Now that you mentioned it, didn't a domestic brand also had continuous screen? Was it the Escalade? If so that's a little disappointing
Also note that even when you opt out of the super-screen (which is what I did), you still get charged the exact same amount of money ($1515), in the version with the brown wood with aluminum lines. So opting out is a conscious choice, and you will not save a single penny by doing so. Not sure if this is the case with the other wood options.
I personally wanted brown natural looking wood, and not that thrilled with the brown wood pieces stuck together with vertical Aluminum lines, and of course being charged $1515 for that privilege.
