Smile Release of Digital Projection/Animation Lites

Greetings: Well, I waited one year-July 2024-calling Mercedes for updates on firmware and software to activate fully our Digital Lites/Animation every three months, and told three days ago, not ready, but what to my wonder I had my first service-A today and the MBUX update 3.2.2 had the firmware for the full projection lites. The MBUX screen prompted me to purchase a one time fee of 110 or you can pay for one year. My app shows ACTIVATED, but wait to see if additional options show on the Light Setting when auto back from dealer. Dealer had some software glitches with the 3.2.2 and we cannot find my Audio Streaming online with Amazon Music and Apple Music as I had before the update. Layout is a bit getting use to. Some apps like weather and Mercedes Store slow to launch. They may redo 3.2.2.
A great start.

I thought I had seen elsewhere that the cost for permanent activation was 200 dollars but it cost me 117 including tax. just activated mine today.

No, it was $110 when I bought it back in November.

So on MB online store, it lists the requirement of the digital light. In order to use this Digital Extra, the DIGITAL LIGHT headlamp technology (codes P35 or 316) must be installed in the vehicle.

The DIGITAL LIGHT projection functions are currently subject to local approval requirements.

The permitted sub-functions are specified in your vehicle's equipment: 43U – projection animations, 42U – Warning and information symbols on the roadway. Please note that some vehicles may first require a software update to be technically eligible to purchase Digital Light projections. Eligible vehicles must be running software version E333.8 (FUP3 Opt.1) or later. The vehicle's software version can be located in the MBUX multimedia system: Settings > Info > System Information. You can also visit an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the software updated.

Availability is dependent on the model series and vehicle equipment.

One of the non-negotiables when I bought my E450 All-Terrain, was that it come with Digital lights. These are projectors.

I absolutely did not want the base Honda-Accord quality reflector LED headlights (they call them "High performance LED"), and Mercedes should be ashamed to put those on an E-class. Mercedes started switching to these cheap reflectors as their base headlights, starting from 2024, and added them to the GLC, the GLA/GLB, the GLE and the E-class, and it is totally worth it to pay the extra $900 or so, to eschew them and get the "Digital light" projector headlights.
